    Couple minute video showing how to remove headunit. It should get you to the point where you can get behind the USB port and remove the old one/install new one. You don’t need to remove your headunit. Pull the climate control and then remove the two bolts below it and you can get to the back side of the USB port. Your wires are fine since you got CarPlay working at all

    Any decent local audio shop can do it. If you don't know of one, Best Buy. Tell them you have a 21 4Runner and need the USB jack that feeds Apple CarPlay replaced because it has a short in it. It's literally a 10 minute job - start to finish.
