    Hello All,
    what's a good setup for a 21 4runner OR with KDSS?
    3''- 2'' maybe?

2" for the rear and 3" for the front to level it out. Select coil springs with your final front/back build weight in mind.

I have a separate thread on here titled Elka, which addresses this. Elka’s suspensions are KDSS specific. Lift height depends on your needs, or preferences, but IMO 4 Runners look best with a modest lift that isn’t too ungainly. They have tremendous high speed driveability, which is unique for such an off road worthy vehicle that’s worth preserving.

You want the front end slightly lower than the back so when you load the truck up the ass doesn’t sag too much.

    Here's mine at 2.3/1.5" on Bilstein 6112's and 5100's. Tires are 295/70/17 (33.5 × 12 ×17).

Also, every worthwhile suspension manufacturer has options specifically for KDSS equipped 4runners. Eibach and Bilstein are the most popular entry level setups, and as you spend more, Fox, King, Elka, Ironman, and Radflo are all excellent options.

I agree with this. Unless you're hardcore rock crawling, a large lift is unnecessary.

I too followed Ronny dahl's Hilux build and started thinking about BP-51 again.

I was thinking for changing the lift on my Limited and my highest priority is comfort. From what I looked at BP51 seems to be the most comfortable setup there is even better than Kings / ELKA / Fox DSC. I could be wrong since this is based on Youtube. But when I saw Shock Surplus video seeing the whole shock body tend to spin when you adjust the settings I gave up looking at BP-51.

I too looked at the BP-51s but saw too many negative reviews. I decided on the Dobinson MRAs and was very pleased with the adjustable ride settings for comfort or performance.

Getting 2” won’t necessarily spare you from rubbing, alignment issues, or needing UCAs.

No amount of lift spares you from rubbing, really. Alignment and trimming are the only ways to deal with rubbing, aside from wheel offset and tire size.

^ I disagree. Lifting does alleviate rubbing, but of course only to an extent. More lift does mean less rub, though. Until you put bigger tires...

My 275's rubbed bad at OE height, and is completely gone when lifted 2". If you lift so much that the body and fenders are not even around the tire anymore.. how would you rub? ;)

you would rub if you were articulating.... your tire is still able to travel just as far up into your wheel well after a lift.

This is incorrect. Lift only reduces rubbing on level ground. You don't think it rubs because you haven't flexed the suspension. Stuff that 275 into the wheel-well and see what happens.

    Exactly!

So you guys are saying that the tire will always go as far into the wheel after a lift?

I want to disagree with that....

If spacers were added on top of the front top hats, how could the tire ever go as far up?

Under the same amount of articulation, I used to rub, and now I do not. To me, that is the lift alleviating the rub. Sure, it may still be possible for that rub to happen if the max articulation occurs, but it is far less likely to happen, because the lift is always trying to "be there," which keeps the tire farther from the body. Without the lift, the rub would be sooner/worse. I get what you guys are saying, though.. "It's still possible." But the lift does help. At least, that's how I look at it. Maybe I'm wrong.
