How many are going to trade for a 6th Gen?

I'll take a look at the 6th gen after the mid-cycle refresh. It's the best time to get into a new car.

 

I've had offers from Toyota dealerships to buy my 2018 since 2019

 

Once they get your contact info they do anything to get you back into the dealership.

 

Last November in for my first "free" oil change and my service advisor checking me in sheepishly said "I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but any chance you might be interested in selling us this truck? I know a guy right now who would die to have this one." I said maybe he should have bought one when I did, and no thanks to the sales offer.

 

Doing whatever it takes to improve fuel economy = selling out?

You know they can be removed, right?

 

When I sold my 2003 TJ Rubicon & 2013 Tacoma TRD Off Road in 2019 to purchase my current 4R, I pretty much knew then it would be my last new vehicle purchase. Other than for a rodent-chewed injector wire 3 weeks into ownership, my 4R has not seen the inside of a Toyota service department since it's first "free" Toyota Care visit, and once for an alignment after I put on my Eibach shocks in 2020. There's no reason on earth to even consider replacing it with a 6th gen.

 

A notable percentage of people aren’t comfortable or equipped to crawl under and uninstall. I am aware it can come off. No one knows yet how easy.

 

We as Toyota people like reliability, usability, and simplicity. The 5th gen just works.

I would put my years salary on the line to see which motor and trans combo lasts longer. The 1GR-FE & 5 speeed or the 2.4T with 8 speed.

hint hint; it’s the 5th gen.

 

Then, those people can leave it on and enjoy a .002% increase in fuel economy.

People took them off 3rd gen Tacos. If all else fails, use a Sawzall.

 

Nobody would take you up on that bet.

But, if the T24A can go a few hundred thousand miles while providing better potential fuel economy and more power, people will be satisfied.

 

The dumb, ugly, impractical “wind blocker” shouldn’t even be there, it’s the largest wind blocker in the history of wind blockers.

 

don’t get me wrong I agree with you. That is my point exactly is that it improves Fuel economy by almost nothing but like the second time ever that you parked the vehicle That annoying thing is going to be catching and scraping on the curb and then you’re that guy that everybody’s looking over at

 

Leave it on and let it get beaten and ground down as a badge of honor.

 

TFL took theirs off immediately, they said it took about 5 minutes and was a few bolts.

I would say if one can't handle that, they don't need to take it off in the first place, because they shouldn't be anywhere but on the pavement within range of AAA.

 

Oh, they're definitely going to get smashed on curbs. I agree. It's just Toyota doing their part to keep up with CAFE.

Honestly, though, if something like that would actually make a significant difference, I would gladly bolt one on for long road trips.

 

Or just keep your 5th gen. It looks better and will probably outlast the 6th gen.

 

I’m definitely keeping my 5th gen for a long time. It will become my kids car eventually. I will need to buy something new at some point.

 

No way never for the 6th gen.

 

Ya you know I would enjoy better fuel mileage on trips if I could attach something like that. Still trying to figure out how I can glue my viper cut pieces back on

 

at least the largest wind blocker in history goes well with the largest and shiniest fenders

Saw my first 6th gen today. (Sorry, no pix but iPhones distort them anyway). White ORP. To my eye everything from the cowl forward looks strangely out of proportion, too large by about 5%. The roof line is notably higher than my ‘22. I’m just not sold on the new styling.

 

That's what I thought too. Everything seems bulky and big for no damn reason. I pulled on the door handle and it felt cheap and weak. It wasn't for me either.

 

I thought the same. The hood looks too long.

Do viper cuts effect fuel economy? I was actually toying with the idea of cutting mine soon. The front end of the 4Runner just looks too bulky for my tastes. Then again, so does the butt, but that's an even tougher fix.

 

I mean an aggressive viper cut can’t be good for aerodynamics, and I hear it can mess with you if there’s strong side wind. Word of advice, don’t go as aggressive as me on the cut it’s overkill. Certainly my mods and rack have ravaged my aerodynamics, coupled with added weight.

As for the butt end, I cut that off too actually.
