Just changed out the plugs and coils on my '09 v6. Super easy for anyone curious about doing it yourself.

bought this beast back in may 2024. I took her out and bumped into a tree after dodging a mama turkey with her chicks. It gave me a good reason to upgrade the front end.

FWIW, there’s debate over using iridium plugs in the 1GR-FE V6. Go to the 12:30 mark in this video. Make your own call of course but just wanted to mention this b/c so many people aren’t aware.

The bumper arrived ready t be installed as the company pre-welds bumper for you. I took very little modifications to get placed. We had the bumper on in about 1.5 hours and a 6 pack. Had a good time putting her back together.

Does anyone know here if you replace plugs with OEM on the 4.7 do they need to be gapped? I think I read something that says they come pre gapped but unsure.

Also just got the tb, water pump and rear brakes done on my scam artist 04 sr5. Now I noticed the rear main seal is leaking.

sucks I’m going to have about $8500 into this damn thing and it’s still got almost 300k miles on it

From what I’ve seen, many people use iridium plugs in the V6. I’m no expert so I hope someone with that experience chimes in. The 4th Gen has a couple of counterintuitive quirks, like this and the power steering system using ATF (but not the ATF that goes in the 4th Gen transmission).

They should already be gapped correctly....but I would check them out of OCD/habit....if you do check them and find any with an improper gap be very careful regapping them because the iridium electrode is very delicate.

    The correct gap is 0.044

I put Ruthenium ngk plugs in mine a while ago, all but one were gapped to spec .044, the out of spec one was .047, i was able to push the tip to spec without damage to the electrode.

You will be just fine. I ran Denso Iridium in my 07 FJ Cruiser with zero issues. Everyone said the same thing on the FJ forum.

Got the 4runner back from the autobody shop...it's amazing how much money it costs no days for okay work...best place in town, too! She's looking good, just not as good as I hoped it would...next up, finishing the roof rack painting and sealing, throwing the S8 bar on it, replacing the leaking TYC headlight for OEM with morimoto 2 stroke bulbs, new windshield and it's dang near time to throw the snow tires back on! Ha! Snow next week!

Arrived home last evening from a New England road trip. Stats: 12 states, 3400+ miles, a 4000-lb. trailer much of the time, countless epic moments, & a 265K mile workhorse. Coincidentally, this month also marks 10 years since I bought my ‘07 Sport with 96K miles. Love this truck.

The one pucker-worthy moment came early, right after we picked up the trailer. Had a full tank but I didn’t realize right away just how bad MPG suffers when towing. Ended up with the low fuel light on many miles from the next exit, and this on the NY Thruway. :-O Made it to a gas station and it took 22.4 gallons, the most I’ve ever put in it. Fuelly calculated 8 MPG. I got that up to 11 later.
