Not a lot of good spots to stick a phone on this dash. Drilled a 1/4" hole for a $5 17mm ball, three minute job. Pardon the dirt.

I noticed mine don't seem loud. I'll prob hit up the audiophiles for some guidance. I def want a stealthbox. Loved the one I used in my taco. Still have it.

I have that same charger and have been debating where I wanted to put it. Down low is the way to go for sure.

they remove what im going to describe as the jumbling of the treble/midrange of the OE speakers. With some settings adjustments the OE HU will do a better job of separating the treble and midrange.

Yes. The manual is available on Crutchfield's site. I'd have to check, but I don't recall wiring those in, since the speakers are dependent on the front door speakers to complete the entire circuit. (dash speakers won't work without door speakers and vice versa) I think I just used the Crutchfield harness and used a crimp cap for splicing. Better SPL and midrange from the dash was my initial perception - keeping in mind this is a relatively tiny speaker. :) The stock dash speaker is incredibly cheap.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
I can offer some guidance on this if you want. I upgraded all my speakers, added an amp, but kept the head unit and did not add a stealbox (too expensive for my tastes). My stereo looks very stock but sounds about 10 - 15 times louder than stock.

When I crank it up it makes the back window shake and you can feel the bass in the seats. I wrote a thread about it in the Audio section of this site. It shows pictures, lists prices that I paid, etc..

How’s your sound tuning and sub control? What did you use for sub if so? I love the JL stealth just for it being hidden. But the w3 slaps too. Did you add a sub? Have pics/list of your setup?

I didn't put in a dedicated sub. The Trail Grid Pro - Kicker speakers give more than enough (in my opinion) bass. The amp is mounted under the passenger front seat, I have the gain turned down a lot. When it was turned up really high, the sound was SERIOUSLY loud and the bass was even deeper, however...

You could hear "white noise" coming through the radio when it was off or when there was a gap between songs. Also, when I would call someone using blue tooth, they would report an echo/reverb. Turning down the gain resolved that issue. The gain is on the amp itself. I should have added a gain knob and ran it to my dash. That way I can adjust how loud I want my setup to be. But I'm very pleased how it is now.

Another bonus to adding the amp/speakers, the Toyota built in mic is no longer shitty! Before, people could BARELY hear me when I would call them via blue tooth (and use the mic/speakers), after the amp was added they commented how "It sounds like you're sitting right next to me, crystal clear".

Here's the thread I was talking about: https://www.4runners.com/threads/trail-grid-pro-kicker-8-speaker-bundle.35128/#post-534723

It shows pictures, prices & labor costs.

Thanks. And good point. The mic does suck ass. That’s a huge gain. Also. Gain knob. Clutch. Thanks for the guidance. I’ll checkout the post

What Best buy is this? If you happy with their work, I might as well get an amp and rear camera installed from them. Any installer reference/name.
