Dobinsons 5th Gen 4Runner Suspension options

We looking at exactly 23 1/2" Front and 25" on the back.

You're at 3.5" front lift and 3" rear lift (for some reason). You will need to lower the back to level it out, not raise the front any more than that.

 

I did as much research as I could before going for this set up. And from day one I realize the back look too high compared to other pictures with the same setup.

I hope over time I will settle down, but it never happened maybe the springs were defective or mislabel.

Idk, but what springs you believe would get me to a more square set up? Thank you.

 

C59-505 would bring it down to the 24" mark with no added rear weight.

Have you taken any weight out of the back of the vehicle? Like removed the back seats at all or the spare tire? That's the only thing I can think of for why those coils gave extra lift or perhaps they were marked wrong from the factory.

 

Not at all... in fact I have a bigger spare tire to match the bigger tire size and on top of that I keep a storage box about 60-70 lbs on the back at all times. Thats where i keep shackles, straps, air compressor ect.

 

Okay you will need to check to make sure that they were installed properly. Make sure that the end of the coil spring is properly sitting against the notch in the coil seat. If they are rotated 180° then they will be sitting taller than they were supposed to be. Also try to look to make sure no pre-existing spacers were left in there. It's super common for people to leave those in there by mistake when they are changing out to lifted springs.

I have the IMS 574 extended travel and 302 springs. If I have the coil seat around 216mm how much lift do you think I should see up front?

I have 505s for the rear and hoping I still retain some rake. No extra weight at this point except when we load up for road trips.

It's a 2.5" coil so with a little bit of preload like that, probably 2.6-2.7" of lift

Set to 213mm there would be no extra preload, so 2.5"

I am looking to get some springs and need some insight. I currently have 5100 shocks front and back (on stock springs I believe) so I was looking to get some dobinsons springs. My front, from what I can tell is at the second perch currently on the 5100s. Which should be .85" of lift. But I am currently measuring 22" from center of hub to fender on the front. 22 1/4" in the rear. 22" seems high for the stock springs at the .85" perch.

I was wanting to get the 300 front and 599 rear for a 2/1 lift and get a little rake due to towing a small teardrop trailer and boat.

Sounds like putting the 5100's on the first perch with the 300s would get me right back to where I currently am? Then the rear would get me an inch or so of rake back. Do not want to mess with UCA's or anything so wanting to stay under 2.5" front lift. Soon to be getting a rear ladder as well. I suppose if the rear is a tad too high with this I could raise the 5100s 1 notch as well?

So you're at 2" of lift up front already. You probably can't see the other clip heights behind the spring perch. C59-300 with stock weight usually sit at 22" on the front.

In the rear, you're a little higher than stock, so I wonder if there's a spacer back there. C59-599 usually sit at 23.5" unloaded.

C59-300/C59-599 would be a good combo though, having that little bit more rake so that you can tow easier without squatting as much would work out well. They're also stronger than stock, so they don't squat as easily.

@Crikeymike Appreciate reading all your responses and hope you could help. I'm not sure which way to go for rear springs. Going 302 up front with no added weight to get the 2.5", and wanting 2" in the back to keep a good amount of rake. I have a 50lb bike rack on the hitch (constant) and one or two bikes for an extra 35 to 70lbs (fairly constant). In season, a 150lbs RTT that sits towards the back of a Sherpa roof rack, and then loaded with full camping gear. Should I go 505's or 325's? Worried 325's would sit too high without all the weight.

325s would be ideal with that added weight and to sit at 1.75-2" of lift. They'll be 2.5" without the weight

 

How much lift did the 505 give you? I’m between the 325 and 505 spring. Looking for 2” rear lift.

 

505s give 2" with stock weight. 325s give 2.5

I have a ‘21 PRO with Wescott 1.7”/1.25 lift kit (stock weight) design for factory fox shocks. I have added a little bit of weight in back. Probably about 120-150 lbs. I do not want to go to a heavy spring as I do not think the weight justifies it. But when I do have even more weight from bags etc for trips I think it rides a little lower than I like. I am thinking of 505 rear springs would be similar to the intended stock weight 1.25” lift of Wescott kit with my additional weight. And would give me a little bit more height when loaded down during those times. Thoughts? Any concerns with factory fox shocks?

I think the C59-599 would be a safer bet. Adding much more lift than that and you can max out the shocks, as they really weren't intended for much lift. And if they hit full extension repeatedly, they blow. 599's and 505's are the same spring rate, just 1/2" height difference.

I am very new to suspension upgrades. I am interested in a 2-2.5 lift on my 5th Gen. I’ve been looking at the MRR. I am trying to determine which coil springs to buy. The front end of my vehicle with a low profile bumper, winch, and light bar is about 120 pounds. I am also planning to add a new Aluminum Skid plate and rock sliders.

Currently, I have a Sherpa roof rack with an FSR RTT (150 pounds total).

Lastly I have a hitch mounted Spare tire carrier that weighs about 65 pounds. If I add some accessories like rotopax and a table it will be a little over 100.

My wife and I both have company cars and our 4Runner is mainly used for fun weekend trips and grocery runs. When we go on trips the rear cargo gets loaded up with our fridge, cooking supplies, battery banks etc.

We are trying to figure out the right kit to buy that will lift our rig and keep it relatively level. Any help is much appreciated.

 

Hey bud.

Up front you'd use the C59-302 coils and adjust the height as needed by the preload.
For the rear, I think the C59-327 would be a good idea so you can support the added constant weight, including the RTT, plus the extra gear you add. It won't be level though, as to level out a vehicle, the rear has to be 1-1.5" lower than the front. So that would be like a 3" front and 2" rear lift at most. You could do that with the same coils up front, but you'll need to add UCA's and a diff drop kit as well as running the extended travel front MRR's.
