If you are are going with 285-70-17 tires TRD PRO OEM wheel should be out of your list.

I'm running 285's on Pro rims. Works great, no issues.

That's what the local dealership does here. Tons of 4Runners and Tacomas with this setup in my area.

Hey guys, new to the forum. My question is this. I picked up 5 285 70 17 KO2’s today. My lift kit is being delivered on Thursday but we are heading out for the weekend Saturday morning. I wanted to try and get the tires mounted to my rims Thursday and install the lift Friday. Would I be able to drive the truck 2 miles with the 285’s on a stock height Trd off road 4 runner?

What are the new rim specs? Do you know their offset?

Hope you don't need to make tight turns.

    I personally wouldn't do it.

Yeah, you should be fine to drive it. Depending on your current alignment, you could get a little rubbing on the mudflap or body mount on tighter turns or bumps, but nothing bad enough that will hurt anything........unless you're sending it. You could also have no rubbing at all........just depends on that alignment.

Your best bet is to just drive it normally with the 285's mounted on your way to the shop. Don't try a "Dukes of Hazzard".

The shop doing it is a straight shot down my street. Maybe 20 houses away

2 miles on city streets shouldn't be that big of a deal. Just take it easy in and out of the parking lot entryway if it's elevated.

There are people that run 285's on stock SR5's, Offroads, and Pros with no rubbing.

Not saying you won't rub but lift isn't the determining factor for tire rub with our vehicles.

It's mainly alignment and wheel specs (offset).

If you do rub when you put your 285's on @jsantoli, you will most likely still rub with your lift on.

You'll need to dial in your alignment or do a body mount chop/mudflap trim to get rid of it.

I was going to mention this, but you beat me to it!

Lift does not clear tires! Alignment, trimming, and offset clear tires. :)

I got everything squared away. Had to take off the front mudflaps and I get slight rub at full turn but it’s not bad at all

This was very helpful. Just added 285/70/r17s to my 2020 SR5 Premium. All I did was a small viper cut on the front fender. Didn't have to remove the flaps in the front. Also used the TRD pro rims that came with my truck.

Yes, stock height. I ran some reverse left and right lock and forward left and right lock at various speeds and I have a smidge of rub on the mud flaps. I will remove them and use a heat gun to remold them a little. But stock height. I plan on doing a 2-2.5" lift within a couple of months.

Have you tried moving caster forward yet?

You might be able to get away from the mudflap going this route.

Then again you might not want to do an alignment before your lift.........depending on how long you plan to go at stock height.

On the other hand if you get a lifetime alignment, you could do an alignment before your lift and after.

I have a 2018 OR with stock trd premium wheels eith 285/70/17 Toyo R/T which is a beefer tire than the A/T but less than the M/T 33.4 dia I believe no rub just need fender liner tuck! I have 6112 bilstien in front and 5112 in the back just to get some height!
