Yup, looks wider. Does that camo cover have a zip open panel on the rear window area?

Is it a fact that Lunar Rock is the most sought after color ever? I still like looking at mine and probably would not trade it for any other color. But I do like the Quicksand and so rarely see the 4R in that color.

I too hope to drive this 4R forever. I am almost 62, so it is a strong possibility. We have a 2002 Chevy Suburban still kicking with 242,000 miles on her.

I dont want to derail the speculation with a color debate, but I will lob $.04 in.

$.02. Toyota should have kept Pro colors for Pros. Imho Lunar, Army, Solar...hell maybe Lime, would be more sought after if they weren't available down the grades in later years

$.04. It could be the above biasing me, but after Silver(which looks amazing on any vehicle and especially 5th Gens) Quicksand and Cement were the best 5th Gen colors ever offered.

I tried to get a 2023 TRD Pro in Solar Octane somewhere near MSRP for over a year without luck. In the Torque News ranking, SO was the most sought after color followed by the two blues, Cavalry and Voodoo. I think trucks are like sports cars and should be bright vivacious colors and not matte dull earth colors, feminine pastel greens or grays that are best suited for hearses. YMMV

    https://www.torquenews.com/6626/ranking-every-toyota-4runner-trd-pro-color-worst-first

I am really hoping this 6th gen 4Runner hits the mark. It could be a great truck especially if it's a bit smaller than the lackluster 250 and more like a 70 series size. Makes parking and narrow streets/lanes a lot easier.

Speaking of parking, the mayor of Paris just led a referendum last week to raise parking costs for any SUV/Crossover to a level three times that of a normal car. So your Land Cruiser will cost three times more to park than a Rolls Royce. The mayor of London says he will apply the same tarifs in the UK capital as well. Just wait, this insanity might make it to the States too.

+1...if the new 4Runner looks anything like the 300 GR Sport Landcruiser, Toyota will sell quintillions of them. I'll buy two in that color!

4th gen Taco is wider at the fenders, but the doors are the same width as before. If the new 4R is set to use common front end bodywork as an earlier post had stated, then expect the same widths. Penalty of sharing a "platform" with the Tundra/Sequoia/LX.

You can also check the GX550 specs which are published on Lexus' pressroom website to get an idea of width.

So I know the 4-cyl turbo is unpopular as hell here because it won't be as reliable and bulletproof as our 1GR-FEs, but the TFL guys were able to get 24.2 MPG in their TRD OR Taco... that's pretty impressive! This is also without that hideous chin spoiler thing. I wonder how much better the hybrid will do... maybe 27 MPGs? Honestly, I like the idea of this powertrain in the 6th gen 4Runner.

What Scotty doesn't understand is that the EPA and just the Feds overall are forcing automakers to switch over to turbo and hybrid vehicles. They have no choice. If it wasn't for this, I am more than positive Toyota would be slapping their N/A V6 and V8 on everything.

Don't threaten me with a good time.

With the price of good condition 3rd gen manual 4runners through the roof, buying a lightly used pre-20 TSS-less 5th gen may be the way to go for my next...uh...non-hoarding purchase.

I don't have a hoarding problem, get off my back! You all have too FEW 4Runners.

Scotty's my spiritual twin. He loves simple, easy to work on, reliable vehicles and heaps praise at all qualifying brands including Fords and GMs.

He is one of the few long time youtubers who had always been simultaneously recommending Ford Panthers, GM 3800 powered sedans, older F150 and Silverados, and old school toyota 4 cylinder cars since before it was cool to roll in cheap old family cars. He is not everyone's cup of tea but he is rarely wrong.

GM 3800, are you kidding me, with its perpetual leaking head gaskets into the intake, my coolant was never full until I tore the top end apart and did a gasket job, like many others had to do.

I totally agree with this. I'm sure a lot of people are glad they offered them on other trims later. But, I thought it was cool for some colors to be exclusive.

I partly agree. I was surprised how much I liked Lime Rush once I saw it in person. And, it was a Smurf Blue PRO parked in front of a dealer in my old neighborhood that really contributed to my decision to get back into a 4Runner.

But, my '03 was Phantom Gray Pearl, and my '19 is MGM, both of which I think look fantastic!

I'm kind of in the middle here. I understand why some would rather stick with the old reliable N/A V6. But, I'm also excited about better power and better potential fuel economy. I was pretty sure the '19 would be with me forever. But, I could be swayed if they really nail the 6th gen.

I'm not sure the I-Force Max will get much better mpgs than the standard 4cyl Turbo.

I think the main point of the I-Force Max is to boost power/performance and it might only be available in the uppermost trim(s).

It is common knowledge the 3800, the Ford 4.6L 2v modular and 3.0 Vulcan, nothing from Chrysler, were cockroaches of passenger car motors of 90s to early 2000s. They were not fast, or exciting, but they will run to 300k-400k easily when properly taken care of. In my area it is not unusual to see 20 year old buick lesabres still rolling around as daily drivers. You don't see too many other 20 year old domestic sedans like that as commuters here anymore.

There are some people who had a lot of trouble with 5S-FE, 2AZ, 1MZ motors of that era too, does not take away from them being considered durable sedan motors from that same era.

I bought a 2000 Chevrolet Impala LS new, baby'ed it for 17 years to about 120,000 miles when I got rid of it. The trans died, under warranty, at 65K and don't get me started about the yellow wire mod we had to do to the ignition switch to stop their continuous replacement.

Not sure how I can frame this in terms that you would agree with, but your individual experience with a GM transmission is not representative of the overall reliability reputation of the 3800 engine.

GM made a lot of crappy motors over the years. the 3800 is not one of them. The early 1GR has a lot of problems too, and I am sure one of those who had an early 1GR would say all newer 4runners are disasters waiting to happen.

    Agreed.

The 3800's were solid, aside from the occasional head gasket. But, Toyota has had head gasket issues with a few motors as well. No reason to write them off.
