My year 4R has LED hi/lo beams but uses a halogen bulb for the DRL as the OEM setup. This 9005 bulb is often used as a bright beam bulb in other applications but that would be too harsh on other oncoming drivers during the day. So, Toyota reduces the voltage to the DRL's so they are essentially running at half power (6volts instead of the normal 12volts).
Halogen bulbs will run ok at 6volts, but LEDs will not. So if someone doesn't want yellowish lights for DRLs, it has not been an easy option to just replace the yellowish halogen bulbs with the crisper and more "modern" white light of LEDs.
This simple wiring harness allows you to use LED's in place of the halogen bulbs by changing the voltage supplied from 6volts to 12volts. That's all the harness does.
The selection of LED bulb such as the Diode Dynamics HP48 bulb is important because it is a "low power" bulb. It emits the clean "white" light of an LED but not in a blinding amount of power.
So, really it is a 2-step process to "do it right". One, install the harness to get the voltage correction. And two, select an LED bulb that is acceptable for a DRL application.
The purpose of this mod is basically for appearance purposes only.
Some may not find the value in it, but I'm sure others will - like me!!!

Here is a DIY thread about this but @ljerr2 summed it up perfectly. I also did this since I think those lights should have been LED from Toyota since the headlights and fog lights are on mine (Not sure if LED fogs/headlights are a 2020+ addition or an ORP option).

    Edit:
For about $15 you can make two DIY harnesses.

    Female Pigtail $8 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MJHYY6N?smid=A1LGDXCZMXB2CW
    Harness to cut $7 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008E00TKY?smid=A1LGDXCZMXB2CW

    Bulbs $40 - https://www.diodedynamics.com/9005-hp48-led-bulbs.html

As far as I know Toyota uses same 12v as a pulse so halogen filament doesn't get to full brightness.

That's a great question and something I never really thought about till now. There might be a workaround but I feel like Toyota would make it difficult to do so. I have a 2010, so it might be different than yours, but I'd imagine that it would have to do with modifying the weight sensor in the passenger seat. I'll look into it though

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I believe there are sensors in the passenger seat. So, if a person is under a certain weight (like your dog or toddler), the airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident. But I don't think you can manually turn it off forever. I know there were cars like that about 10/20 yrs ago, you could stick a key in near the glove box to turn the passenger airbag on/off.

that depends. 2014 to 2019 and some 2020 uses PWM for the DRL. some 2020 and all forward reduced voltage to 6V.

A little disapppinted. Lifted the front wheel way before the rear. The rear hadn't reached full flex.

That will happen with every truck that has independent front suspension and a solid rear axle.

Even race trucks that have crazy amounts of front wheel travel have even crazier amounts of rear travel.

Been a while. Removed front sway bar. I thought I'd feel more roll but my rig feels the same. Must be the Ironman 4x4 coilovers stiffness but the front end feels better around town. Rear sway bar is still on.

I think the front wheel picking up is because the ramp angle is very steep. You could stuff the rear easily I bet if the ramp slope was gentler.

Oil change, ATF and picked up some WeatherTech HP liners to replace the factory rubber mats. The HP’s are an improvement over the standard liners in my wife’s MDX

I’ll have a cargo liner for sale soon. Bought one for use with 3rd row.

The reason I asked is I see your friend is sitting in the passenger seat. My wife is a retired veterinarian and she had treated many dogs hurt by airbags when they were in that seat. Just a heads up for you and all dog lovers.
    Blessings.

Upgraded to a 1" x 30 kinetic energy recovery rope and soft shackles. Added a B&M 70268 Transmission cooler. Heat of summer going up grades fully loaded will be the real test. So far monitoring it seems I am running about 20 degrees cooler and the spikes in temp at torque converter drop much quicker.

Well not so much what I did, but what I had to do. I saw that my fill bolt was leaking, so took it to the dealer and it was covered under warranty. Service advisor said they changed the washer and re-filled the differential fluid. Only 1200 miles in my ORP! Hopefully they did a good job.

That's a cute ass dog right there man!

Ahh okay, they do look similar for sure! Your dog looks a bit bigger than mine, same face though! My dogs name is Bob, so whenever he does something bad (rare occurrence), I can use my Hank Hill voice and yell "Dangit, Bobby!!"
Oh shit, I never even thought of that till you posted about the airbag. I do appreciate the warning though, seriously! Might have to start keeping him in the back seat from now on. He only rides with me in the front seat for short trips to the store, dog park, etc. Very sad hearing about dogs getting hurt in car crashes, what an absolute nightmare to deal with. You definitely gave me something to think about though, thank you. My dog and I appreciate it greatly!

I am not the greatest about strapping the pups in. Saw a video the other day that showed a dog (illustration not real) in rear and what would happen without a seat belt type restraint flying into front or windshield. Not a good scenario. As much as the pups like to roam free I am thinking about options.

I had same thing on my 21. Kind of makes me think it was over filled from factory or crush washer was not doing it's job. For the diff it's intended to over flow. But the crush washer should not allow that even if was crazy over full. Not even sure how you would pump fast enough with gear oil to make this happen. Guess filling and immediately bolting it up.

Not sure why they would need to refill your diff though unless they drained it. Should just be remove the fill bolt. Let any drip out and torque down with new crush washer.

Don't judge yours until you get a LC200 on the same ramp imo. We all can post pics but unless tested on the same ramp / place it has no value. Even if a LC200 have a better rti index I doubt it can wheel as yours imo. Be happy with yours.

    Screenshot_20231026-201315_YouTube.jpg Screenshot_20231026-201806_YouTube.jpg

Here's a little test I did mine when I installed Ironman FCP. It "looks" it has more flex and all 4 tires on the ground. Can I wheel with it like yours? Hell no. It's much more to it than worry about rti, imo. Enjoy your ride.
