I took her to Wadesboro NC and had the sudden realization that highway tires don't do well in the mud! Do any of you have 2 sets of tires? I mostly commute from Charleston SC to charlotte NC and would not make sense to run aggressive tires all the time.

Lots of salt put down last week... too much, really, for the meager amount of snow we received. So I ran our 4Runner through two washes. I hate that salt residue on the sides and especially the undercarriage.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
Crap! I hate snow but we've been lucky so far. Supposed to get about a foot or so. Did I mention I hate snow?DSCN5605.jpg

First sample was Amsoil but it was pretty much all highway, since I was commuting pretty from work. Second sample was Shell Rotella but did have a lot of off-roading and overloading involved. Also I now live 3 miles from work, so not sure if that effects it at all.

Yeah I’m not to fond of it either. I snow blowed about 6 inches before bed today and slept about 4hours. And went back out and there’s about 16 inches and still snowing.

Installed my ditch lights. Having some fitment issues with the brackets (hood won’t close flush). Was able to get the driver side flush. I’ll work on passenger side some more.

Today I finally finished the roof rack build I had going to put an iKamper Skycamp Mini on. This will stay on until we get our Gobirack. Built from 40mm 80/20 aluminum on top of a Rhinorack base.

    IMG_4120.jpg

Yesterday I installed RSG rock sliders:

    IMG_4109.jpg

I like that the rear "push out" and the fact that they might protect the car a little bit from idiots in parking lots:

    IMG_4111.jpg

May they ram their doors into THAT!

Well I got them from a co-worker who didn't use them, but I think he said it took like a month.

Feel like I'm spinning wheels waiting for stuff to get here (front bumper, roof rack) but the Dobinson drawers are here on a pallet and told the installer to wait on the roof rack and do both at the same time. Next week major sound surgery, a bunch of Audiofrogs are going in, an Icom 2730a, a Uniden Bearcat, and ditch lights.
Here are the Cooper Snow Claws + studs I'll run until April and then switch back to the KO2s.

On our road we've got two places you can mess up badly. Last week a surgeon buddy down the road a bit slid off..its a 20 foot drop at 30 degrees either side. It won't kill you and no major trees to hit...he was in a Ford Raptor and winched the rig back up.

And a shot of the front yard from this past weekend...years past the ice so thick on the lake some have driven over.

It was a pretty easy install, make sure you look at the connectors, on one of the connectors that plugged into the heating pad the blade in the connector had moved back into its plug, took me a little while to figure out why the pad wasn’t working, but a easy enough fix of pushing the wire in to move the blade forward. There are a couple YouTube videos on taking apart the console, like I said other than a couple screws it is all held by clips.
    https://youtube.com/watch?v=v7Odqgw4Mfc&feature=share
There are a couple more but you get the idea.

I decided to snow blow the driveway so I moved the Forester out into the street. There was a pretty good mound of snow behind it just about to the top of the bumper but they are supposed to be pretty good in snow so I just backed her up. Hardly spun a tire. Backed right over it and into the street. Next was the Runner. Mound of snow over the rear bumper and packed around the tires. In 4H backed out like the snow wasn't there. Figured I'd take it around the neighbor hood on secondary streets that have hardly been plowed to give the 4WD system some exercise. Too easy so I purposely got into a couple of piles of snow that the plows left on the corners. Almost hood high. Right through without a whimper. Like others have said, it seems to be a snow mobile! The Falkens impressed me.

    Are those sliders or steps?
Very nice they are closer to the body and would protect you from door dings I guess.

The door sills are available from Toyota but these look a bit beefier and they protect the whole sill.

They are not sliders. They are beefy steps with the slider look. I had them for a few years and have zero complaints. Sold them because I got bored of them. They’re made by Tyger and are available on Amazon.
