How hard was the install? I have a 2020 and I'm looking to install a transmission cooler. I'm going to be towing a small trailer as well .

Super easy imo. Just gotta remove the grille and that will free up most of the space you need. I also move the hood latch out of the way too. Loosen the top part of the fan shroud and mounted it. Super easy.

Pics I used from the internet to guide me:

    Thank you!

Which cooler did you go with again? Does it use existing mount holes? or is there a need for me to get creative?

Thanks @Doglover2003. This is something very doable for me as I have been towing a 6x10 cargo trailer to and from SoCal.
And I hope that the OP, @Crankpin, found his answer.

    Edit to add a bit.

I now need to read up on how to add trans fluid on my ‘16 since there’s no dip stick.

This is the one I bought. Upgraded the rubber holes to 3/8"

Which version of cooler is that? I'm needing a good one for towing up the hills in the summer. Tranny temp is hitting a bit over 220F so a 30F drop would be fantastic.

Scratch that, just seen the 8000 series listed in that ad.
    Thanks!

    Finally ordering this up.
How much extra Tranny Fluid did you have to add to compensate for this big radiator?

I added 1/2-3/4 bottle of Toyota ATF WS to the cooler and lines. It didn't take much.

Does that mean you pumped the ATF into the lines before you attached them to the system? I didn't think of that... I was just going to pump it into the tranny. I changed the tranny fluid and filter about 6 months ago so I may have almost a full bottle laying around. Thanks!

No problem. Yeah straight to the lines and topped off the cooler. Too easy

Doglover, by any chance do yo recall which line from the transmission is the outflow and which belongs to the return line? There are two lines leaving and entering the transmission one is above the other. My guess is that the top is the return? But I want to be sure to get the flow correct when plumbing these in series.

I did one of these on my 04 Taco and we got the wife a 4Runner last Friday. I know how well they work, and can't imagine not having the additional cooling on this one.
