First mod on my wife's 20. Between this forum and the Tundra forum the smallest mods seem to be the best mod lol. It really set the silver decals off seeing how it's a silver vehicle.20200215_135113.jpg

I just had the muffler cut out, and a new 14” Flowmaster put in, i like the beefy sound it gave it.

    John,
I bet that sounds great! I have just one question. Why did they weld the muffler to the tailpipe instead of using a clamp? Just curious.

What’s funny is that it came with the clear bra package from the dealership and rocks are good at missing the protected points

I have never had a good seal with clamps, just like to eliminate a problem before it starts.

After the first trip I took in mine (only had 1k miles) and I found multiple rock chips! I was so mad...never had this problem - to this extent anyway - on any other vehicle I've ever had.

Have you tried touch up paint? I was thinking about trying that?

There was a broken down buggy stuck in the arch formation. No go on that today.
I used to go out with some folks but got tired of all the excuses for being late, rigs shitting the bed, dudes with vaginosis, etc..
Now I just go solo and avoid all the group drama.

    Cool.
I don't go crazy when I'm off roading, need not to worry about that. I like to pick destination type trips vs off road parks.
Saw a nice JL on 40's out there today with some broken steering stuff waiting on a buddy to pull him out of the canyon and then get a tow from a wrecker. Poor bastard.

Dudes with vaginosis= guys that always complain and whine about little things, coffee isn't hot enough and are rude to the person working the shop, they fart around forever with their tires fretting about 1 PSI off from the other tires when airing down and or up, their trail etiquette sucks, they litter on the trails...you get it.

Rigs shitting the bed=trucks are not reliable.

    I was all in with you until you stated;
    "trucks aren't reliable"
We own 2 diesel trucks (Ford & Dodge) & they have been some of the most tough & reliable trucks I have driven in my 29 yrs of driving.
I know full size trucks suck on the trails due to width, but reliability? They are born work trucks.

I would but honestly I’ll just upgrade and do a full bumper replacement. Soft ass paint for sure, though

I have had good luck putting a few wraps of header tape and using a band clamp. Welding is probably best, but this allows you to take the exhaust apart if you want to.

Maybe what he meant was "trucks THAT aren't reliable." I'm just guessing, though. Maybe guys would come to the group runs with poorly maintained vehicles that would regularly break down, which would probably screw up everyone's day.

    Just a theory.

Kinda funny, reminds me of my first group trail run. I picked up a piece of gravel in my brake dust shield, and we had to stop to get it out.

I felt like a damsel in distress while @Ajmogen and another friend from Tacomaworld jacked up the 4runner and pulled the tire to remove the rock. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but these guys just jumped in to help out.

I think that's when I realized what a great community I was getting into. I've met and hit the trails with a bunch of really cool people over the last two years! I'm looking forward to another season.

Sorry for the off topic rant.

As for the topic at hand; I have not actually DONE anything to the 4runner recently, but I have ordered a bunch of goodies! I'll be sure to post when they get installed.

Please, don't get me wrong. I was not angry (sorry if I sounded that way). I truly wish there was anything around here to drive/trail! Cornfields & hills are private and boring. Plus, corn will scratch the bumper!
It is my wife's daily & I am busy as could be 365 so maybe somehow. @ 6'4 I really want an older LX but the price & maintenance has me vomiting!
Maybe I am just bound to pickups for life.
Sorry for the rant. Personal issues going on.
    to all!

Touch up paint is mandatory if you own a Toyota. The paint is an area where Toyota skimps. Toyotas have some of the most thin paint jobs in the industry. I bought the touch up paint the same day I took delivery of the 4.

Have used this with with good success for rock chips, certainly better than traditional touch up paint IMO. Better on metal surfaces than plastic, since the impact typically distorts the surrounding surface some and is forgiving in that you can remove excess shortly after application.

    I don't mean trucks themselves aren't reliable.
People that fail to maintain them lead to them being unreliable.

    I figured it was a typo.:D

That's good advice, though! Thank you!

I have used the little brush and it leaves streaks in the touch-up paint. I'll try the paper match method next time.

Accessory panel from Wits-End installed on my center console panel and closes without any interference from my safe. Worked out well. Had to remove the tissue holder to install but no biggie. Mounts using snaps secured by small screws, so it does require drilling. Came with a pattern template to locate hole positions. Velcro flap on the top peels back to review a hidden location to hid CC's, cash or flat items. Now I don't have to dig into my safe for those frequently used items. Top notch stuff from Wits-End.
