What is that paint coming off? Or just not finished properly?

Looks like the panel pacing the rear is vertically ribbed and that could be the reflection of the sun hitting that surface, another reflection of the sun can be seen to the right of it on the right edge of the tailgate. Probably done to avoid blinding drivers behind the vehicle.

Sure looks odd whatever it is. I am not sure why that area would reflect more than metal panel itself. Maybe I will check one out if they are still in stock over the weekend.

The metal areas on the tailgate and the center of that phone handset shaped trim piece all have at least a slight convexity to them, that area being flat makes any reflection more of a glare. It does stand out to have those two small areas being corrugated.

The whole back end would look more coherent if the bumper was body colored too but alas.

Yuck I really don't like also how the front fender is basically hollow and I get it for airflow.. but it's a fkn box. It just looks like they ran out of ideas and are like oh let's Tacoma it up a bit

One in brownish color stopped in front of my house last evening, I guess one of the neighbor kids' friends got one from their parents. From the rear right view there are so many lines it's a busy look at dusk light.

I think the idea was to make them more similar, like the original 4Runner and Hilux/Pickup. Whether or not that's a good thing is up for debate.

Personally I like the idea of commonality. Theoretically, it makes it easier to get parts far off in the future.

I doubt any exterior parts from between the Taco and 4R will swap without doing a full grill swap type operation. Do they share any panels/doors/hood etc at all?

The commonality between vehicles would also bring down costs with same design, tooling and material procurement costs spread across more units, but that has certainly not helped with TSRP with the two models.

The trucks are plentiful, aren't they?

Strange that I saw that there's market adjustments being charged on these things in another post. At my local dealers, they are discounting all the trucks and the 4Runner. In fact, they have a common practice to do paint protection and none of the trucks had any paint protection at either dealership. No extra markups except for floor mats and other Port installed options.

They are still marking up the sport/OR/limited trim levels in my area by 1-3k, or adding a bunch of dealer crap like ceramic coating and nitrogen filled tires. I haven't seen a Pro advertised for less than a $5k markup. I haven't seen a Trailhunter. I can't imagine that these markups could be sustained much longer.

Are you in a high salt area? If you were in a place like Chicago or New York, where cars don't last half as long, I could see that maybe there's still a demand.

I watch Eric on the South Main YouTube channel and Toyota is the only brand that doesn't rust all the way through in a couple of years, hahaha.

Hudson Valley NY. Tons of salt on the roads. Weekly undercarriage rinses between December-March are my household rule.

I saw my 1st 6th Gen Saturday in WV. We were behind it and my wife says look at the Sequoia in front of us. I said that's no Sequoia, that's a new 4Runner. I thought it looked OK, but like with anything new it takes time to get used to. We only saw it from behind and some side boob when it turned.

I've had the opportunity to look at them while at my dealership last week for service as well. I agree that the outside seems bigger, and the inside, smaller. My dealership had both an SR5 and TRD Off Road, and they were both marked up about $3,000 with bogus nonsense like nitrogen filled tyres. I am just having a hard time relating to paying $68K for a vehicle that has cloth seats.

    Cheers,

    Sean

The OR prices have really gone off the deep end, considering barely a year ago an equivalent OR with more standard equipment was priced at 13-14k less.

I have yet to see a 6th gen on the road, just on car carriers. There can’t be many buyers willing to pay those insane prices for what you get.

My local dealer has been selling them like hot cakes and can’t get enough of them. Most of the ones they’ve sold don’t even end up on the website. I was driving around the lot and saw a supersonic red 2025 limited out back. It was sold and never even hit the site. They finally have one that’s been on the lot and not sold yet, I think it even has a discount.

People are still buying them though. But yeah, I’m in agreement with you now that pricing is insane.

As of today here in Denver CO there's a lot of LC250 in stock. Including Mudbath (Or whatever that light brown color is called.)

There were few 4runners Including the beautiful green color TRD Off-road. Most likely will test drive by my friend tomorrow, I'll just be a passenger. No TRD Pros or Trail Hunters in stock.

Needless to say insane amount of Tacoma and Tundra in stock. Didn't go inside the showroom to check discount status.

Yeah in my area(SF Bay Area) 5k off of the base/1958 edition is not moving them, dealers probably need to keep slashing it to under 50k to get people interested, hopefully.

4 decades of exclusivity down the drain in one fell swoop. Heckuva job boys at Toyota, heckuva job.

Maybe I’ll get one at a fire sale price at the end of year. It’s going to be wacky if you can get an LC for cheaper than a 4Runner.

If they offered the gas only powertrain in it I would be tempted, shame really, I think they did a great job styling it much better than the 6th4R. I just don't need the extra 1k of weight and powertrain that make it slower than my 5th gen ORP.

Heck if we can dream maybe they would even throw the 6 speed manual from the Taco into it to make it a FJ Cruiser 2.0, with all that much vaunted and praised "commonality" and such.

Yep, the LC with a gas only option and 3 pedals would be very interesting

I agree. Hopefully they ditch the hybrid in future years. If they don’t cancel the model all together.
