My numbers are an estimate of starting base price for each trim.

Is $67-70k MSRP or with a dealer markup?

My 2nd Gen 2015 Tacoma TRD Sport AC is now ten years old (purchased 31 OCT 2014). I paid $30k for it. My Tacoma is in excellent condition and has 129k miles on it. IMO, I would have to be insane to pay $67K for a new Tacoma no matter which trim it is. I am still in shock over these prices.

Good thing I am an old fart because I likely will not need to purchase another vehicle the remainder of my life. It gives me a sick feeling in my stomach for my children and their children.

With the Tacoma, it wasn’t just the crazy increase in MSRP’s. When trucks finally showed up at dealers, we also saw the deletion of previously standard features. If you want to “buy back” power seats, a rear slider, or a bed inverter on your Tacoma TRDOR, they’ve got you over a barrel.

Just sizing up what we know of the upcoming the 4Runner trims, it’s pretty obvious they’re planning the same strategy. So, while a Platinum trim will cost an extra kidney, a $45k SR5 might come with peddles.

But all you 6th gen naysayers want simplicity right?

You don't want all the new tech.

Shouldn't you be embracing the low tech reliability of analog seats?

I’m fine with non power seats but not when paying luxury car prices.

New tech. Power seats? My Dad’s 1958 Lincoln had power seats and windows. When we “naysayers” talk about tech we mean useless tech like interior lights that fade up and down, and all the nanny stuff. I don’t need every damned function of the car to run through an ECU. And I despise “limp mode.” And an electrical system that’s so twitchy that I have to tip-toe around it to add some accessory lights.

And grille shutters. Worst tech ever. Followed by engine stop-start.

So the price will be lower than the 5th gen to reflect the lack of amenities, right? Right?

Engine start-stop is the kind of stuff that makes engine engineer cringe. Great way to put 100k worth of wear on a 50k mile motor for those who do a lot of stop-and-go traffic.

Don't forget the super high tech dusk sensing headlights that have only been around since the 90s but 50k 2024 ORs don't get it even as an option, yet almost all of them come with moonroofs along with heated seats+steering wheel, cellular tracking, TSS, etc that cannot be opt out of.

You can always count on nimby to have the edgy take, LOL.

Those prices don't reflect 'dealer installed accessories'

You have to click through to get actual price.

Example, there is Trailhunter for 65.1k from Simi Valley, CA.

But if you go to Simi Valley Toyota, same vehicle actual price is 67.3 because dealer add-ons.

Add another 3-5k of port installed accessories for gulf states and south east regions units, easily over 70k.

On the contrary, I’m actually keeping my Gen5 with its more modern hood struts, just so I can show off to future generations of 4Runner owners with prop rods how more technologically advanced we were way back in 2024. Yet paid far less money.

They’ll never believe us w/o the evidence.

So never mind all the things Toyota added for 5th and 6th gens, dusk sensing headlight they've been using for > 30 years is the one you think is the one that would break the most? LOL. Those Pros and Limited 5th gens with them must be breaking down left and right.

Again, everyone can count on you to have the edgiest take. If Toyota ain't pay you to do influencer work they oughta because no one needs to advocate for them that hard doing mental gymnastics at your level.

I don't understand why you same few guys who hate everything about the 6th gen has to keep posting their thoughts about it. We get it. You don't like it, now go away. I am not a clinical psychologist, psychiatrist, sociologist, psychopath, sociopath, anthropologist, mammalogists, or xray technologists, but it seems to me you guys are trying to convince yourself and others that you don't like something that you really, deep down, you do know this new vehicle is a huge improvement of the antiquated, slower, less powerful, less torgue, less technology 5th gen. If what I am saying is not true, why do you same few guys keep coming back to this 6th gen thread? Are you trying to convince those of us that are looking forward to the new modernized 4runner that we should not or are you trying to convince yourselves that you do not like it. Some of things you guys are saying is just silly. Why not just stay on the 5th gen threads and tell each other how happy you are with your vehicle? Why can't you just move on? Well, I guess I really am asking, why can't you just stay stuck in the past, but do it on the 5th gen threads? LOL. Relax guys, just having a little fun, but really, we get it, you like the new version, but you can't say it.

Out of all the new rides coming out. The 6th gen is definitely one of my favorites. Really wish it'd have like 400 hp though lol.

Nobody’s even driven a Gen6 yet, so pretty much every Gen5 owner is well-qualified to offer their unfiltered opinion, even if it may chafe someone else’s delicate sensibilities, or causes them to spill kool-aid on their favorite Toyota tee-shirt. Doesn’t automatically make them envious, a troll, or even old-fashioned. Most are just passionate about what a 4Runner could or should be. That’s the difference between a forum, and a fan club.

If they’re being respectful to others, let the big dogs gripe. It promotes healthy Kaizen.

How do 7 year old kids get log in IDs to this forum. That was the most childish reply you could have came up with. And your erection for 5th gen might be an issue. Wait, maybe you are 10 years old. A seven-year-old would have said boner.

antiquated, slower, less HP, less torque, less tow capacity...trigger words for you

What's funny is I complain plenty about the shortcomings of the 5th gen and Toyota's idiotic build options on it like the headlights, sunroof, lack of a manual option a la 3rd gen Taco, and so on, to the point where I have been accused of being a hater here.

I'm the schrodinger's 5gen owner, I'm simultaneous a hater and an unrepenting fanboy. LOL
