I know a lot of dudes in British Columbia running 35s in my groups that haven’t re-geared and at the moment I’ll likely be one of them because I can’t afford all that and I’d like to keep those components factory, Toyota. It’s part of the reason I booked a YotaTune OTT for low and mid torque…
I haven’t told the wife about tuning, but I don’t think I’m gonna, We’ll see if she notices because she didn’t notice 1.25 inch spidertrax spacers or pedal commander LOL
Haven’t told her about booking steel sliders mid July neither but I have a feeling she’ll notice

 

Some of us don't want a tire that wide. 265mm is a pretty good sweet spot for width. A 33x10.5 is a pretty nice size tire (ran them in the past, and would again if I could get the tire I want in that size).

 

The only thing I have found are the BFG and Toyo in 34/10.5r17 which is essentially a ~265/80r17-ish...

 

Oh ya forgot about this size. But they’re so damn expensive.

Maybe I do have a chance to run 255/85’s on 9”

what offset are your wheels? i just ordered the rs7-h with -12 offset.
im currently running 17x8.5 with - 8 offset with 1.25 spacers with baja boss 255/85/17

 

Mine are -12. I initially had spacers but to me it looked awkward, so I took them off.

 

Do you have pic directly front of your car? Just want an idea how much poke is sticking out. Thanks in advance

Seems like 33x10.50 would be a great size (or even 265/75R17, same height as the 285/70R17 but less width). Seems like nobody makes those sizes though.

I wish Interco made the TRXus MT in a size I could reasonably fit on my 4runner but their smallest 17 or 18 is a 33x12.5. They wear like crap (I think I got ~35k miles per set when I ran them on my Frontier) but are great off road and in snow.

 

BFG makes a 33x10.5 but not for a 17" wheel.

 

I saw a JK Wrangler on stock wheels with 255/85/17 Baja Boss oday. First time I've seen that size in person, they looked amazing.

Of course, the Jeep was probably only running like a 2-in lift for that, it would probably be a pain to cram them on a 4Runner though.

Been following this. I debated it for a bit.

 

How far down have to taken them?

I just ordered 255/85 Baja Boss and will put them on my 8.5” RRW.

stellar built said I should be safe at 20, sketch at 15.

 

How much lift do you have? I am looking at skinnies and wish the 255/80 had more options. The 255/85 concerns me on fitting it. I have seen what 1silverrunner needed to do fitting 34s but not sure how much easier skinnies will be.

The MT Baja Boss is my preferred tire if I can fit it without lots of chopping.

 

I’ve got a Dobinson 3” lift. Running 285/70 right now but wanted to switch it up.


Also has a bmc from Stellar Built too

20 is the lowest I have gone. I'm reluctant to take them below that, even though they likely could and be safe. I'd rather take more time to get unstuck than pop a bead in the middle of nowhere.

 

Thank you, fully agree. It’ll be an adjustment but looking forward to the better traction in the snow.
