I have a 2 1/2 lb in front of the drivers seat and a 5 lb in the back.

The front utilizes the mount that came with the extinguisher bolted to a Desert Does It mount panel that is attached to the seat jackets. The seat still has full forward / rearward movement.

The rear utilizes the mount that came with it bolted to a home made bracket.

Question, why is it a "cool factor" to have the extinguisher mounted in front of my seat? Nobody really sees it. Myself, I think snorkels and Raptor lights are way more of a "cool factor" than fire safety...

It will go all the way up but does start to rub the top of the extinguisher as it nears the end of the forward travel.

I don’t know. Us guys are weird. Some of us like to mount CB radios, have shit dangling all over the dash, put patches everywhere, molle panels in the front.

It's good for under-hood fires (most likely in a vehicle) when it first starts, that's why you want the quickest access.

For camping I carry a second extinguisher loose with my gear, and put it close to the grill or camp fire (and close to the tent if I sleep with the propane heater running).

What's the 2lb extinguisher's rating, 1A5BC? I went with a Kidde 2.5lb because it's 1A10BC. The canister is aluminum with no welds, as corrosion would otherwise be a concern in the footwell area.

I asked for two for xmas.
After feedback from the boys, sounds like need a second larger tank in the cargo trunk to actually put out a car fire (I'm not installing any in front of seat)

respectfully, as a career firefighter, very few vehicle fires are going to be controlled with a fire extinguisher. If a vehicle spontaneously goes up in flames, you more than likely have fluid involved at a continuous flow.

That said, I still carry an ABC extinguisher because absolutely anything can happen and it may make a difference, especially if it’s an off road/grass fire issue. But I’m just not giving up foot space for an extinguisher.

Not to mention, I have other personal experience lol

When I was a teenager in the '70's, my buddies engine caught fire in a McDonalds parking lot. Guy next door ran over with the smallest extinguisher I have ever seen. (The 2.5 lb I carry is a lot bigger) It did the job and we drove the car home. I have come to realize that most big fires started as little fires.
To paraphrase, "If it saves only one, it was worth it".:D

cars weren’t built with an engine compartment full of plastic and other combustibles in the 70’s.

either way, doesn’t hurt to have one or use one.

    This guy gets it.

I'm not carrying it for a issue i may run into on MY rig, but, a side of the road thing I may come up to, or camp fire that gets outta hand, or buddies, doing "watch this" things. Its not in my rig to put my junk out. Just there for the other "oh shit" moments. That said, i do carry two, small, out of my way units. And , everyone i travel with knows where they are, and i consider that done/good. Same with my emergency pack. That takes up little space. It wont cure cancer, or heal the planet, but there in case a few of us go wheeling/shooting/spelunking, whatever, and something could do the trick. No more, no less. That said, in 2 decades of horsing around, neither have been grabbed. But, i also will make some simple, out of the way space, for the option.

shit if I know. Doing 75 and notice smoke, pull off highway and it’s beyond gone by the time we got out of the truck. Probably something with the fuel system. Aluminum melts fast lol

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.

High temperatures aren’t an issue. Chemical is very stable.
Inside of my vehicle is well over 100 degrees in Texas.
