I'ld like to take a moment, and thank, Florida and Wellcraft, for building the 160CCF.

Man I wish I had changed the timing belt on the Deawoo Lanus before it locked the engine up at 60k miles.

My other car is a Challenger widebody Scat Pack Shaker. I’ve never cared about gas mileage since my first car, a Boss 429 Mustang 50 years ago.

Congrats on the purchase. Does it have the flip down speakers in the rear hatch?

There’s no speakers on the hatch, so take Premium Audio with a grain of salt

No, no, be glad it doesn't have the drop down speakers. *laughs* I had them in my 2017 patriot and the latch very quickly wore out and they wouldn't stay up at all. I thought I'd had it fixed one time...it worked loose again and I got busted in the head with those speakers. Thankfully my Wife's Patriot didn't have them. I don't think I could've dealt with the problem across two vehicles.

Not very, sadly. My Wife's 2012 had some CVT issues, which thankfully got fixed and it wasn't a problem again, but, its was always very herky-jerky and never felt right. So, we primarily used my 2017 that had a regular transmission in it that was a lot smoother and it didn't feel like it chugging and wanting to die, but, for some reason it chewed through coils and spark plugs like they were candy. Plus, my bumper just randomly came loose and was about to fall off for some reason. Add in the problems with the speakers in mine and yeah....I really didn't like them much. *laughs*

I wish I had better things to tell you, and I'm happy for your purchase, man...I wish you the best of luck with your Patriot and I hope you have a better experience with yours than we did with ours. I will give them a thumbs up on being dirt cheap and great on gas at least, I can definitely commend them on that.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.

Not to make you paranoid, but plan any preventative maintenance that may help the life of the transmission. My brother had a 2012 Patriot hat he had to part ways with around 110,000 miles because of transmission issues. I was with him on one of the rides and the car went into "Limp Mode" and we couldn't get it to go past 10-15 mph until it cooled down. Since yours is a newer 2016, I'm hopeful that there were some positive changes from the 2012 until then. If not, just plan for extra maintenance that could help/extend the life of our transmission. Good luck with the nice ride.

I've gotten by just fine the last 10 years with my setup: 2001 QX4 SUV and 1991 Honda Civic. Both cars are now well over 210,000 miles - we bought the 5th gen to replace the QX4 and I will be looking to replace the 91 Civic. I paid about 8,000 for both cars and got 10 years out of them. Now with the 4Runner near 50,000 and adding another car, this is hopefully the last of my new car purchases for another 10-15 years.

Still looking, but not sure if I'm going to go new/use Honda Civic or Corolla. This market almost makes buying new the way to go.

Not sure if this counts. This is my other ride - about 2-3 times a week. Not an engineer but a trainman. Diesel-Electric ~1600HP20230601_090554.jpg

In the game of musical cars, I rarely get to park them together. My 2015 Tacoma DC Off Road. Hidden winch, ARB on board air, etc.

No problem! You should be better off with the later model year as aside from my issues with the coils and spark plugs, the worst parts of the 2017 was mostly fit and finish related. No transmission issues or anything like the 2012.

*laughs*My other issue with that 2017 is that I never really wanted it after the issues my Wife went through with her 2012. I had been set on a Silver '08 or '09 FJ Cruiser that was sitting at the dealership. First time ever seeing an FJ and I knew right away I wanted one...Yeah, she talked out of buying it and buying the much cheaper Jeep.

We recently took a 150 mile train trip in Mexico from the Copper Canyon. Many tunnels, beautiful scenery. I wish it had been 1,000 miles!

Here is my Boss 9 with the original L.A.Times ad. Purchased for $2500 in ‘74 at 17. The other picture is a year and a half later with tunnel ram, headers, a big Crane cam and slicks. I learned a lot because of that car. Those were the days. Great cars, music and girls.
