Thanks! My house sits on 40 acres. I have several trails throughout the property and this is the main trail. I would not have gone unstuck on most of the other trails.

My first off-road 4R adventure. All 4 wheels off the road AND dangerous cliffs. Almost forgot water with real wild life. :D Not bad for not leaving the city of Carrollton.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really liked my '03, even the way it looked. The cladding around the wheelwells held up to years of gravel roads better than any paint job would. Aside from having oodles of torque at almost any RPM, it got decent mileage, and so far has been the best vehicle I've ever owned.

The '19 is working its way into my heart, but I really loved that '03.

It got to a point where it needed a bunch of work, so I took the easy way out, and traded it in. It's kinda silly, but I got emotional about it when I was taking pictures of it next to the Taco. It took years of abuse and neglect, and was still a genuinely nice vehicle with almost 260K miles and 15 years on it.

Here it was at Don Jacob's Toyota in March of 2017. I don't even miss my Supra as much as I miss that 4Runner.

None. Bone Stock. EXCEPT: Brushguard, tow hitch, both welded to the frame. It's good to have friends and a fully equipped garage!

Is that a leveling block? I tie myself in knots trying to guess how many leveling blocks to carry for uneven campsites.

My druthers is a front 1/4 shot but there are lots of ways to make a good image if you put some effort in --->

I say this in good spirits and with intent to offer advice to make people's pics better - I see a lot of images that could be great if people took two seconds to frame shit up and tidy shit up. If you are going to take a picture why not take it well? My advice for pics of vehicles is:

    Use the rule of thirds.

Watch your lighting and watch for your shadow being cast onto the scene. Seeing the photographers shadow right in the middle of the object being photographed is a image killer.

Take the image slightly upwards if possible, even if you just kneel down. Looking up at a thing connotes size and power. Shooting downward, even just from eye level, makes stuff seem smaller, which can be useful but not in the way most people here are wanting to capture an image.

Frame your background and crop out distractions - like another vehicle or telephone poles. It's often easy to crop shit out if you just move slightly and place the offending thing behind your truck, or just out of frame. Move forward if there are phone lines hanging above the truck to move them up and out of frame.

Gas station pics are retarded. Sorry to the fuckbois that like them LOL. :crapstorm:You know why? Because a fucking moped can go to a gas station. Every schlub with a 1987 Tercel goes to the gas station twice a week. The idea is to communicate adventure and remoteness and restlessness and solitude and the opposite of a convenience-store-everyone-can-do-it mentality to your viewers. Same for garage pics and pics with a condo in the background or really anything that says "developed area, people here" (edit, unless the point of the image is to explore that - in which case embrace it - but those pics trying to look remote but with a housing tract in the background...no).

    Close the doors.

Watch what your passenger is doing if they are going to be visible in the image.

Turn the front wheels so they are close to parallel to the camera.

Get the entirety of the vehicle in the shot unless the point of the image is to use a portion of the vehicle's lines to point towards something else in the background.

Watch how you cut off shadows and certain things in the background as those can make an image seem abrupt and not tied together. Keep an eye on reflections of the truck in water and don't cut those in half, include the entirety of the reflection or none of the reflection if possible.

Shoot horizontally. We have two eyes set on a horizontal plane. Shooting vertically sends a message that something just isn't quite right with the image even if the viewer can't figure out what that is. It also allows for too much shit in the foreground "below" the subject of the picture, generally.

Background is as important as foreground. Maybe more so.

Frame the image prior to taking the shot or edit / crop it afterwards to minimize wasted space, e.g. acres of sky above or tons of ground in front of the truck, unless that's the point of the image.

    Action beats static.

    Fill the frame.

Use focus to change perception and connote that the vehicle is secondary to the landscape, by putting the vehicle in the background and out of focus.

Pick up litter that may be visible in the pic.

And finally the 1/4 shot connotes depth that a front on or side on shot cannot.

    Examples:

I also like rear 1/4 shots and try and frame those as if the 4R is looking at the landscape ahead of it, same other rules as above...

And while not a 4R thing, if you have a cycle then take those images from the opposite side of the kickstand so the cycle is leaning away from the camera. It looks bigger and the side closest to the camera isn't in shadow. I generally use 1/4 front or rear for bikes as well.

All of those shots of the front where taken with a telephoto or normal fov lens.. that reinforces my thinking the 5G has an ugly front end when even slightly distorted by the lens..
