Interest rates being what they are right now, it made sense to write the check for our 4runner. 5% interest is darn near like doubling the depreciation. In the days of 0-2% financing it did make more sense to take out a loan though. Even if you were only getting a 3% return, you made more money having it invested elsewhere

Nope, never a good idea in my opinion. When it comes to assets like cars, pay and forget. My peace of mind and emotional well-being are more important than sime measly gains

You guys with 3% returns and measly gains are doing it wrong.

Nice job @Yotaholic I think that might be the first time you've ever used the words "in my opinion" on this forum.

That's an ever better feeling! I've paid cash for my last 4 vehicles and haven't had a car payment in over 10 years.

I look and feel really good for my age. I have eaten well, slept well, and never had car payments.

When I wrote a check for this truck, financially I didn't feel a thing. But if I have to write a check for a half a million dollar Bugatti or something, I will definitely feel it. That's why I don't buy those things. I know my limits. There are folks out there who write checks for Bugattis and boats and private jets, good for them, they can afford them.

A guy or girl who makes $100,000 a year, taking out a loan to buy a $50,000 truck, is like a brain surgeon who makes a million dollars a year, takes out a loan to buy a $500,000 Bugatti. We would definitely tell that brain surgeon to have a surgery of his own brain, but we ignore the youngster who is making $100,000.

I said "even at" to prove the point that you can come out money ahead in the interest game. I'm fine not going back and forth over who paid their rig off the right way though. Good job to everybody that has

You are probably in the 0.0001% who play games like that. The vast majority are looking at monthly payments, banks love them. 6 missed paychecks and they lose their shirts

That is exactly why I think it should be more important in our society to teach young people about finances so they can make informed decisions.

Meanwhile my wife and I put everything we can on our credit card and then pay it off every month. I've never paid the cc company a penny interest and taken thousands of shirts from them in cash back. That IS a fun game for me. To keep it on topic, my new grille cost me nothing out of pocket, just used some of the cash back balance.

Companies like starbucks, doordash, uber, lyft an Amazon will go bankrupt if the younger generation got smart.

These three are all you are going to find in my wallet, a debit card, $500 cash and my concealed pistol license. And a checkbook at home. Simple life

I haven't used a check book in at least 15 years. Haven't had a land line phone in about 20 :)

Well we can finally agree on one thing; neither of us are likely to go broke at least. Big Friday.

You included your concealed carry permit which had nothing to do with the conversation about finances.

Oh right, there’s probably a lot more than 3 things in your wallet, but you felt the need to mention that one. Just your usual plea for attention and admiration….

Post Eibach lift. 1.6" front and .75" rear springs, pro truck sport shocks and struts.

Dunlops got to go in the fall, hopefully I can squeeze on 285s!

I put 100,000 miles on the TRD Supercharger in my '99 SR5. Only thing I had to do was replace the nose drive at 60,000miles which was a known maintenance item.

    Removed the raptor lights.

Initially I ran power to the fuse box under the hood but wanted to install a switch on the dash to turn them on and off. After working on it for awhile I decided I didn’t want to slice the grommet going into the firewall to run the wires to the fuse box by the kick panel. I also didn’t like the idea of having to leave the cover off the fuse box due to the size of the add-a-fuse plug.

Eventually I just removed everything and I think it looks better without the lights.
