What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

The Pro has the same bumper as the OR, but the valances are black, and it has the Pro grille, of course.

 

Replaced the rear driveshaft with Ultra-Power P/N 936763. Factory driveshaft was too heavily rusted. Also greased the front driveshaft with Castrol Pyroplex Blue #2.





Tested the driveshaft up to about 80 mph with no unusual vibrations. For a $220 driveshaft it's pretty good.

 

Xpel 70% blue tint all the way around except for the windshield a couple days ago.

And a bunch of spring cleaning today @ 50,000km:

Oil change + Fumoto valve install
Rear diff, front diff & transfer case fluid change with Redline 75W85 for the diffs and Redline MT-LV for the transfer case.
Replaced front diff drain and fill plugs with the hex head Lexus ones
Lubricated the driveshafts (lucky day, parked it and the rear lube points were in the perfect spot for me to access them! Win!)
Replaced the engine air filter and cabin air filter

Almost ready for my Utah trip in May, just need new tires.

 

Finally unassed myself and decided this 6th gen 4 cyl turbo thing probably isn't worth waiting for ... so I bought my fifth 5th gen since '15...

What did I do specifically today other than buy it? Ordered tires (Falken Wildpeaks), ordered a console organizer, installed my shotgun rack, C pillar debadged it, and presently looking at overlays for those stupid chrome grille strips...

I did not. I installed exactly as shown in the install video.

Some new Fittipaldi wheels.

 

Removed the front valence on my ORP to paint it black to match my Pro Grill. Went, sanded it down with 400 grit and cleaned it well. Went to paint it but unfortunately the top part ran a little. Must of laid it on a little heavy. Instead of fixing it, I went ahead and order the black valence off YotaExpedition to go with my YotaX pro grill. Can’t wait to get it in!!

why did they swap out the sensors on a tire change only?

Took my pup trailer out to practice reversing the squirrelly little s.o.b. and also get my wife to try it. Taking it to Utah this May so want her to get comfortable driving with it.

Installed this Thule box. It’s the motion XL and it’s almost to big. The rear of the box rest on the fin antenna.

 

Nice.! I have the Thule xt xl(slim version). Thule boxes are very nice but so damn expensive. And I only used mine 3 times so far.

 

gott move that fwd a touch. You’d be surprised how much up and down motion the box moves at speed. Dont want to damage that fin too much

 

The box is super nice. I got 20% off mine at REI. I’ve been waiting all year for a coupon.

After having it for a couple weeks I think a regular Large would fit best. I would return it (I love REI’s return policy) but I think I’ll use the extra roof as I’ve removed my rear seats and built a sleeping area and plan on car camping as much as I can this summer.

The box is a far forward as it will go. It barely fits. I’m not to worried about damaging the fin I’m more worried about the actual roof. I’m sure eventually I’ll get aftermarket cross bars that will fix all the problems.
