TRD Pro vs Off road with KDSS

Sure man, why not at that point. Especially since plastidip is removable with patience. Of course, you would chip and scratch plastidip as well, maybe can do small touch ups ?

 

Well it was sold. My only options now are a ORP without KDSS, or just keep what I have.

 

That sucks. Hoping you’ll find one with KDSS. I took a look and the dealer I bought mine from shows to have 2 TRD Pro and 2 ORP in stock.

 

Where did you get yours from? I live outside of Gettysburg.

I was impressed with my deal. Before I even stepped foot into the dealership the sales guy I worked with had discounted my ORP by $6k and we had the financing approved. I went up there twice after; once to go look at it and validate what he sent me pictures wise, and the second was to test drive and then do the paperwork. My ORP was in their showroom. Also there were no dealer addons which was a plus. I would recommend them.

I never said they sucked I actually like them! I put a set of FSW copies on our 22' Taco and the 17x8.5 with 0 offset and 285's looks and rides really nice, would have done another set of those but they were out of stock so had to do OEM's

 

Hopefully they can get you one. If not the ORP with KDSS is great in my opinion.

 

I still don't know what I want. A ORP with a decent discount will be hard to pass on compared to a PRO at sticker price. I'd like to find a dealer that had both, so I could drive them back to back on the same roads.

 

Lucky for me in Denver we have both KDSS and Pro on the lot. Even as of last weekend, Saturday.
Other trims was also on the lot; SR5, Non KDSS ORP, TRD Sport, Limited.

 

I went with the pro to avoid the KDSS for longevity. That's why I bought a used 2015 pro. No sunroof, no kdss, no tss, no xreas.

 

And no sweat equity

 

Toyota's obsession with sunroof is a bit much. I don't know if it is due to buyers wanting it or if they have too many roofs in a pile that need installing, but having them on EVERY. LAST. ORP. that got shipped to the west coast was a real bummer when I was buying mine.

If I could do it over I'd probably lose the sunroof as well. Because of the head clearance. I joke with my family that our 4runner was designed for short little Japanese folks and children

 

Same on the east coast. I'd rather have it without too. Do they do theses in batches, will there be ones built latter in the year without sunroofs, maybe???

 

And the sunglasses holder. I open the roof maybe once a month if that, I use my sunglasses every time I drive when there is daylight. :/

 

My guess it is just due to the 5th's run coming to its end and they want to clear out all the parts inventory and make the build as similar as possible to speed things up.

I doubt '24 4Rs will have many ORPs and Pros without sunroofs if at all.

 

LOL you just reminded me I have a sunglasses holder. Pretty sure that things collecting dust. Oops.
Every time my sunroof sun visor is open my toddlers complain instantly. Every time I tried to put my toddlers in their car seats I hit their heads and they're not even 3 years old.

 

I like having a holder so I leave a pair in there in case I forget mine so I always have a back up.

two things from my 99 camry that are missing and I really miss in my 23 ORP are the sunglass holders and the dusk sensing headlights. Don't get me wrong, I love the 4R, but damn it Toyota, lol.

 

I had a hard time finding a TRD OR, with KDSS but no moonroof. When I starting looking there were zero in North America and zero in allocation. Since I wasn't in a hurry I told my dealer that I'd wait and see what happens. A couple weeks later Toyota built one. Yes, only one. And it was in my color. Find a salesman that's willing to search the allocation list periodically until the 4R configured how you want it is built. Hopefully you will get lucky like I did.

 

Thanks, after waiting for a while I ended up buying a white ORP with a sunroof, the dealers in my area I talked to either didn't know the process and was just forwarding me everything they had coming, or were selling theirs so fast it was not worth their time. Mine does have the sunroof and it is what it is, I'll live with it.

 

Bummer. Had I settled for a ORP I certainly could have gotten a better deal. I'm so glad I didn't even though I was stuck paying MSRP. Between absolutely hating the SoftTek interior and really not wanting the moonroof limited my options greatly. I expect to have this for the long run so I wanted what I wanted. Fortunately I had a dealer willing to help me (inventory manager has worked for Toyota for 30 plus years). I definitely got lucky because it had everything I wanted (exterior color, cloth, KDSS, no moonroof and upgraded audio). It's crazy that Toyota decided to build one! I don't know why they did and I'm definitely loving my first 4R!!!

 

This is why all the new pros get the SEMA wheels…

Regarding sunglasses holder, the wife and I have literally been dumping shades into the center console junk for as long as I can remember. Maybe one of us have a pair of shades we thought we lost that's in the sunglass holder

 

I passed a nice new clean white TRD Pro on my way home from work just now. Please can somebody explain to me how in the hell do you put anything on the PRO roof rack how do you even use it LOL. I'll take my Amazon roof basket everyday of the week.

 

I agree! The pro rack was the only thing I really hated about the Pro (and the crappy front camera) before I bought it. Thankfully it’s super easy to remove and I got a bunch of money for it since I sold it fairly early after I got the truck. But still, I wish they put something usable. Oh well, I really like my Gobi so I can’t complain too much but I expect better from Toyota
