We know that the PRO shocks, wheels, roof rack, etc are installed after they arrive in the US. here's what they look like coming off the boat.

Have this been confirmed? I've always assumed that the shocks were installed at port with the rest of the TRD pro stuff but I've heard conflicted answers on this

I don't agree that shocks would be installed. Swapping tires and adding a roof rack is one thing, and a pretty quick change. But swapping out shocks at the port? That seems like an unnecessary amount of time & labor.

I guess I can't confirm this personally. It's just what I always hear.

It's just what I read here. Maybe I'm wrong.

Shocks and coilovers can be swapped pretty quickly if you know what you're doing, though.

I agree. I just saw the video that was posted; so it's very likely they do it all there. I was probably wrong in my assumption. I usually am, but only on Saturday's.

Was the ORP I posted above not fully loaded? I am confused by your assertion that it is somehow not. I fail to see how over $8k is close in price.

that’s not good analysis. A “fully loaded” ORP would include crap like the Toyota cooler, sliding tray, and predator steps, etc.

none of those thousands $ in options bring the ORP closer parity with the pro.

    True.

I suppose the wheels & tires make their way back to Japan for the next shipment of Pros.

My ‘23 ORP’s factory msrp + dest is $50k with kdss, moonroof , and MTM. Anything additional options would be crap akin to 4Runnerlifestyle stuff. Those gimmicks would be how you get to $52k

then you factor in much heavier discounts on ORP than pro. Because no one is buying ORP at msrp or with markup

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
If you don’t like the droning Pro exhaust and the fugly roof rack those will have to $wapped.

I edited my previous post from packages to accessories (which is what you were talking about with the cooler)

From the Toyota website, if you build with the best package but without ANY accessory (i.e. cooler, predator steps, trd wheels, side exhaust, and all that crap) you're looking at almost $52k.
Do the same for the Pro and you're looking at almost $57k. So if one was to get and ORP and add TRD wheels, tires, fox shocks, etc... they would be looking at the same price at the Pro (or more expensive with better suspensions). And still wouldnt be getting dual zone climate, factory remote start, JBL audio, auto headlights, etc... that come only with the Pro and limited (in the US)
If you dont care about all the interior tech that the Pro gives over the ORP, then yes better off getting a base OR or ORP and upgrading only with suspensions & tires

but in the real world there is heavy discount on ORP - $3k to $5k. Zero discount on pro.

Okay so plus $630 for the moon roof. Pro does not have KDSS so would not include this in my comparison. If you're buying a TRD OR to upgrade the suspension why even bother with KDSS?

there are other things, like MTM, etc...
Point is there is not a $8k difference like you posted just from wheels and fox shocks. If you want to match the interior of the Pro with an ORP (which is not possible but you can get close) then the difference is a lot less so it might not be worth it for someone. If someone doesnt care about the tech like @djwantke was saying then yes get a base ORP or even SR5 and save the money to do upgrades that you want

Plenty of folks here do that. Combine KDSS with a mild lift

we're only talking about MSRP here
Too many factors based on what you can get depending on the dealership, your negotiation skills, etc...

I got my Pro for 54k when some people got their ORP for 53k. Some people got a Pro for 70k while others got an ORP for 47k.

We cant really speculate of what one could get wihtout knowing more about their credit history, etc... that's why we're going off of MSRP. But yes if you can get a fully loaded ORP for 48k or a Pro for 65k, the choice is obvious

Yes sir. Less sensors the better

"If you're buying a TRD OR to upgrade the suspension why even bother with KDSS?"
Valid point. But I think the answer is, because KDSS isn't your springs and struts. Research the trims

RSG sliders, Yakima offgrid basket, Pro-Comp wheels, SOS Streamline bumper and skids, Warn VR EVO10S winch + Ultimate Sidewinder, Bilstein 6112 + 5100 + rear lift coils, Rigid Dually SS ditch lights w/Caliraised brackets and OEM style dash switch
Why not? KDSS benefits in ways that no aftermarket suspension can.

If you're referring to folks who plan on going to long travel, or full rock crawler build, I would agree. But, in either of those cases, I'd start with an Off-Road or SR5. That is, unless I really wanted dual climate control or a special color.

Daily driver and some off roading within the capabilities of the truck with the plan of upgrading it in the future (lift, shocks, etc) - Get the ORP

Extra vehicle for camping, light off roading with no intention of modifying suspension in the nearest future and use something else as a daily driver - get the TRD PRO. I like the sound system too.

That was approach anyway. Everyone is different.

As far I know, TRD ORP has the KDSS and it makes a better drive on the pavement than the TRD PRO.

I have KDSs on my 4R and love it. KDSS greatly reduces body roll when cornering. I have also lifted mine with an old man emt lift. Check out my build page for details.

I'm in PA and there's no 5k discount that I've found. Most I've seen was $2200, and I was told any that are on the way will be full price. That may have just been BS to get me to buy one on the lot. Dealers want a 5k deposit just to hold one that's on the way. Is there still a vehicle shortage that I don't know about? I thought we were past all that stuff. I think they're going to get stuck with these sitting on the lot when we get closer to the 6th gen being released. I bet most people will want the latest and greatest.

That’s interesting about the large deposit where you’re at. In central New York State I gave a $500 deposit last fall.

Same story here in CO. But now its changed, there's plenty in stock even KDSS. I think couples of months back I posted plenty of KDSS in dealership lot.

When I bought my truck in 22 it was a $500 refundable deposit. When I helped my mother in law get her rav4 a couple months ago, the dealership I went to said they changed it to a non refundable $500 deposit without any guarantee on agreeing with the OTD price beforehand. Needless to say I told them politely (or not) to go find another customer and I went to another dealership further away that had one in stock.

to all the people in AZ, you should AVOID Camelback Toyota and Tempe autonation Toyota like the plague.

Is the Pro Fox suspension unreliable? Been watching videos and reading posts and some people mention they were shot at 20k miles and others who think they are the best suspension ever.
