Well, Satan's sky cocaine fell starting yesterday into today. We got anywhere from 3-4 inches. Now we gotta deal with the extreme cold and ice that the roads will become.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
Almost have everything blacked out in the interior. The only thing left is the surround for the entertainment/heater area. I'll be ordering that from Car Trim Home soon. I ordered the shifter panel last night. I painted this part because it's easy to remove and CTH wants $70 for the overlay. It's Rustoleum matte black but it's a little shinier than the stock black and CTH overlays. I'll see if it bother's me and figure out a way to make it "duller". It's better than the silver for sure.Installed painted console.jpg

Looks good! Blacked out interior trim pieces would look great in a TRD that has the exterior blackout package. On my Limited, not so much. Nice job!

Got to 4-wheel around in the snow this morning here in PA and NJ. Highly recommend the Mickey Thompson A/Ts. They are beasts in 4WD.

What was you pucker factor set up on that down grade? Slipping around a bit too. Like you said the camera lies about the grade hard to tell but seemed kind of steep.

I kept it in 4Lo/1st, didn't want to brake or let Crawl Control brake. This is where you wish 4Runner had Jeep's super slow crawling ability.

I've got a Victory Blitz bumper in aluminum to save weight. That and I do more two tracking and overlanding than dedicated rock crawling. The viper cut is perfectrly suited for my needs and clearly many other as well. IMO, it looks as good as it performs. Dedicated full front bumpers add a lot of weight especially if you've already got a winch.

Swapped out my chrome bar upper grille for a matching mesh one. Only downside is the parts aren't exactly the same and now I can't reinstall my radiator support bracket.

Sure but I haven't done the viper cut yet. Thinking of getting the aluminum washer fluid resevior/relocation kit before I do.

And Victory now makes these wing extensions for this bumper so I may go this route.

I'm on the fence about the wings which aren't cheap at all BTW. They look clean but I wonder if they wouldn't cause more damage being run into a rock vs the plastic just bending a bit.

Try without wings first and see if it works. I got it done for 200 bucks, cash wink wink

The plastic is rubbing the powder coat off a couple spots on my Green Lane wings where I didn't cut quite high enough. The complex shape makes trimming a royal pain, so I'll live with it for now.

    PXL_20231210_193220935.jpg PXL_20231203_191813096.jpg

Using a beefy steel Victory cover on the washer bottle, probably could have just hit it with plastidip.

What roof rack crossbars are you running? I have the Rago Fab cross bars but want to go a different route for my mountain bikes. I kind of like the look of the wide bars up top.

A brand new blower motor assembly. Mine started making a squeaky sound. Always OEM. After markets are cheap but do not last or have the same airflow.
10 mins is all it takes to swap one of these.

Remove the lower dash plastic panel. Just pull down and it snaps out.
Once you look down there, carefully remove the fan connector with the black wire. It's a tight snug fit, has to be wiggled out.
Remove three 8mm screws that hold the fan in place. Front, right and behind the fan.
Wiggle the old fan out. Put the new fan in and align screw holes. Reconnect the connector and tighten screws. Everything is plastic so easy on the tightening.
Put the plastic panel back. There is a cut out in the lower left corner where the plastic plate extension fits, adjust and align accordingly and push in the 3 upper clips.
This is the old fan, looked alright. If it's the original that came with the car then I have to commend on it's quality. Lasting over 13 years.

I've also historically being worried about the exact same thing regarding wings. I Dremel cut a stage 2 high clearance cut (viper cut), no curve at bottom, and properly black painted the bottom mounting points so they disappear. If I added wings (and a valance winch bumper), I'd have to chop even higher to achieve the same clearance which I enjoy now.
Can't help but think the wings, which look killer, may fall into "damage multiplier" category. I could be wrong, but they are kinda mounted cantilever style, how big of an impact before they bend up, or back.

Thanks for posting this DIY. My fan seems to be making a tic-tic sound rather than a squeak noise but also seems to be associated with the cabin filter? I pressed on the front cover to the filter compartment and the ticking sound seemed to go away. Can you tell if the fan blade itself is that close to the filter compartment? Maybe I need to go in there and move things around if the fan itself is touching the filter?
