Why on earth would you want IFS on one of these?

 

I'd counter that as long as it had low range and good offroad specs, hardly anybody would care.

 

Jeep has a lot of history on the Rubicon Trail, it makes sense to me that it's the top off-road
trim.

If they were to change the order around now, it would probably just confuse buyers. Like when Toyota came out with the "trail edition" SR5 a few years ago.

To the OP's original question, I think it depends on your uses.

Do you want a reliable and fairly capable appliance that you are going to use as a DD and put hundreds of thousands of miles on? Definitely 4Runner.

Do you want something as a weekend toy that you can take the tops off and hit the trails? Definitely Wrangler.

When the Broncos first came out. I was all in on them, I still think they look fantastic and have great specs. However, in real life, I'm just reading about too many issues with them, weaknesses, and reliability issues. Witnessing one blow the front differential on a simple obstacle sealed the deal for me.

I think unless you absolutely love the look or are a Ford guy, the Bronco is just too middle ground. It's not as good on road as a 4Runner and not as reliable, and if you want something as a toy to build into a trail beast, the Wrangler is much better at that.

I think the Bronco would be much better with a fixed roof, that would at least remove the issue of poor fitting and leaky/creaky tops.

Just look at this pathetic rear Bronco window. It doesn't even roll down. Dreadful.
In other news, almost 8 years since purchasing, five All Auto windows, still perfect. Not so much as a single light bulb has malfunctioned on the 4R. Engine solid. Leather interior and steering still perfect in my case.

 

Please, no. If Jeep made more use of "Willys", I'd go nuts listening to folks mis-pronouncing it as "willies" rather then "Willis".

 

Everything!!!! Looks, reliability, simplicity (SR5 Premium), history, reputation, experience (with both a '92 Bronco vs 2 RAV4s, 2 FJ40s, 4 Trucks), Bronco negative reputation/reports/recalls. "Nuff said!

 

IFS is nice lol. For rock crawling the Wrangler is there.

 

I’d honestly consider that, maybe not with how the new Frontier is going but on paper something between Outback/Passport and a bona fide 4x4 would tempt me. The interior packaging of the former with some of the goodies of the latter!

The Cherokee TH, Grand Cherokee and Durango all sorta kinda fit with the Cherokee being spot on but was smaller inside than I expected and a Stellantis product, the middle is an upscale and also a Stellantis product. The latter requires the V8 to get low range and still had normal Durango angles.

But then again, it’d have to compete with those modding the Outback/Passport/etc and a stock 4Runner/etc so it might just fail down the middle like most of the midsize BOF SUVs around and after the Recession.

So I came here again with Viper Cut this time to get a good view. And this is the absolute max, which is not bad at all. I am confident I can take on a connected Rubicon and beat it any day of the week

Death wobble is a VIOLENT shake of the entire front end. Mainly Due to worn parts.

4runner steering shimmy, more like a slight viberation. And its mainly from poor tire balancing.

 

Easily fixed, shouldn't even be an issue.
