Is this a proximity sensor? Looks like a backup sensor on the front. I've been in BMW's that have them - it alerts you when the front fenders are getting close to objects when you're backing up because you're staring at the camera

Makes you wonder if there will even be a new 4Runner. The GX was the more expensive brother of the 4Runner and now the Landcruiser taking that slot, will the 4Runner even exist or will it be a smaller less expensive version that it is now?

Looks like it. My 23 Limited has these in front - I like to make it a game of “don’t make them beep” when I’m backing down our driveway - fence to the left and house to the right so it’s tight (but not as tight as when I had to back up my previous vehicle for 14 years: 09 GMC Yukon!)

Well check that out! I had no idea 4runners had those. I knew they added blind spot monitoring for some (maybe all?) but had no idea they'd added those sensors in the back and up front.

Why redesign the 4runner at all? Seems to already be up-to-date with tech. :crapstorm:

This seems to come up pretty regularly in this thread. I like the idea of a slightly smaller 4Runner, if that comes with improved off-road capability.

Next year will be interesting, new Land Cruiser sold alongside the 4Runner still on the 21 year-old platform.

your sarcasm is so disrespectful. I like the tech in my 4runner.:)
In all honesty, there isn't possibly anything on tech side I'd need. Its all wants and I am trying to simplify not complicate.

So the LC has a different interior from the GX. 4WD selector is arranged differently even though the functions are the same.

    GX:

    LC:

Note the LC selector is 3-position: H4 full-time, H4 center diff locked, L4 center diff locked. This frees up a blank spot where the center diff lock button is on the GX. Maybe the LC will have an available front locker in foreign markets like the J300 LC does.

Did you mean rear locker? Or did they actually put a front locker in those?

^At least Toyota keeps the rear locker button in plain sight. Not like Nissan hiding it just above the parking brake pedal...

what trim is that? I bet it’s more expensive one. I doubt it would cost that much, they couldn’t sell too many and had to stop with 200.

maybe starts at same price as GX, with some higher trims costing more.

I don't think it actually matters, because as far as I understand we are not getting the 300 series. :notsure:

Also, wasn't the outgoing 200 series already 80 some thousand dollars?

Edit: looks like the entry level trim starts at 101,000 Australian dollars (based on a randomly selected location), which converts to about $68,000 and change.

It's the top of the line GR Sport trim, the only trim with a front- or rear locker in Australia: https://www.toyota.com.au/-/media/t...ubs/lc300/files/20221219_lc300_spec-sheet.pdf

Since it looks like it will be based on the GX, I would think it would be a bit cheaper.

Toyota has formally announced that it will drop the name “Prado” for the 2024 Landcruiser. Instead, the firm’s new 4 wheel blunt instrument will be named “Lego.”
