255/75 R17 who's running them?

From my experience the Cooper AT3 4S were stiffer than stock Dunlop (4R) and Geolandar (Tundra) tires, but really shine on snow/ice-covered roads.

 

Not close to rubbing. It is barely over 32 inches.

 

Do you have a front and rear pic of these tires?

This may be a little easier to read, but still doesn’t truly answer the MPG question.

 

I know it is anecdotal, but for 6,000 miles on the KO2 275/75 17’s my MPG is about the same as it was on the Stock tires, which we had for about 40,000 miles. Without correcting for the slightly larger diameter, I am seeing mileages from known routes about +/- 2 tenths of a MPG. I did have one long highway run of about 1200 miles. I was actually disappointed on the way up with about 19.5 MPG, but the return trip was near 21 MPG. Strong wind was the likely culprit. Into a strong north wind on the way up, it was on my tail on the way back. Also, I Usually only run at 74 MPH on the interstate, 65 when towing.

 

255 75 17 yokohama a/t are cheap on Amazon right now. I'm debating if I want to jump down from 285 70 17s, I'd save on gas, but id lose the sex appeal.

 

What contributes more to drop in mpg, the extra width of the 285s or the added height? My real question is if you've considered 255/80R17s.

 

I honestly can't complain about the gas mileage. Im averaging 350-375 miles from full to when the gas light comes on. So with 285s I'm averaging 18mpg....

I looked into 255 80 17, just since they are all e rated they weigh more then my p rated 285s so there's that. But lot of the 255 75 17s actually measure 32" where my 285 70 17 measure 31.75".

My next tires are going to be the 285 70 17 maxxis razrs a/t. They are still on the cheaper side(less then $800)

 

Why do you think this is the case with 285s? Is it a specific brand with this inaccurate height?
