Did you have issues with the 285s on a 2.5" lift? Im having second thoughts on buying a 285's on a 17x8.5 -12 offset. Your input must be my deciding factor. Thanks

Not trying to butt in, but lift doesn't actually clear tires. Some are running 285's at stock height. With -12 offset, you'll almost certainly need some trimming, and possibly a BMC.

I'm pretty sure 285's will NOT fit in stock height.
And yeah I want to know what the OP did to fit those 285's in his ride. I just want to make sure what issues I'm going to face when installing the wheel. It just happen that the OP have the same wheel specs that I want to put in mine. Its my first time to own a 4runner s

Again, lift doesn't actually clear tires. Alignment and trimming do. The tire winds up in the same place when they're stuffed. It might not rub when you driving around town, but It might when you flex the suspension.

You're going to need to get as much caster as possible. This might require upper control arms. You'll also need to adjust your inner fender liners. You might need to trim or adjust your mudflaps. Negative offset wheels make it more challenging to clear, as you increase the scrub radius by pushing the tires out.

Everyone's build is a bit different. But, these are the things that are typically needed to clear 285's.

Again, I'm asking if the OP what issues he had with his setup. Same truck, same lift, height same tires, same wheels. I'm asking if he had some rubbing and what did he do to fix it and make the 285's fit in his truck. I know I need to modify some things. I asked about the lift because I'm running a 3" lift and he put a 285's on a 2.5" lift.

Ok. Just trying to give you some general info.

Same truck here. 2.3" lift, 285's on -6mm wheels. I also have 295's on 0 offset wheels.

Sorry, I was just trying to help.

I haven't had any issues and I've wheeled it pretty hard already. I did get the BMC done when getting the lift installed so I can't tell you if I would have had any rubbing without it.

I just bought the same wheels but on -18 offset. Did you do BMC?
I'm hoping i don't do BMC and rock with a 285's on these

I did a BMC, but mostly because I had the 4runner at a shop already to get a custom skid built. I'm not positive it was really necessary.

You might be ok with just trimming and adjusting the inner fender liner.

The problem with black/dark wheels is that they are hard to see in photos unless the sunlight is hitting them like in the above post. They look great in person though.

Thanks! They're SL load ID. I don't do heavy off road or anything, no RTT or bumpers.
