Toyo AT3 is here.

That seems about right. I think th skinnier tires are supposed to be around 42-44psi.
The E load “harsh ride” is something that is severely overblown on these forums, mainly spouted off by people who have never had E’s. Glad you like them. I’m still torn between these and the Nittos in 255

 

Here's what the almighty tire pressure calculator came up with. I'm sure a little extra is fine.

 

The Nittos look awesome. They are slightly larger than the Toyo at 33.3" vs 33.1" and 5 lbs heavier. I doubt they would rub on stock suspension, but who knows. I just had a slight rub on the left mudflap while turning onto a side street when I hit a valley gutter at 15 mph. That soft front suspension dipped just enough to briefly make contact. It's weighted down with 90 lb sliders, 200 lb driver and a full tank of gas. Also, it has a 3/16" lean to the left even unloaded in the garage, so....

But for normal driving on oem Trail wheels, I think this size is good to go.

Yeah, I’m not concerned with rubbing, I’m lifted and will have Body mount chop and fender trim by then. Just have a hard time deciding between the Toyo At3, Toyo RT, Coopers and Nittos. I wish this size was more popular so we had more options. I’m sick of the 285 popularity haha

 

Yeah the selection in this size is definitely limited. I was also considering the Falken Wildpeak and Cooper ST Maxx (heavy!). The Toyos were the lightest and on sale so I rolled the dice. It almost seems like there are more MT than AT choices in this size.

 

I’ll more than likely will be pulling the trigger on these as well. I have my lift just need to put it on. I’ll be doing a 2”/1.5” hopefully I will kit run into any rubbing issues. I see in a later post you had some. We’re you able to see where it was rubbing?

 

Do you know what the increase in diameter is over the OEM size?

 

Approximately 1.46” depending on brand of tires you’re comparing it to.

 

Can you feel a difference in acceleration or power delivery?

 

Yes, there was like a 1 square inch mark on the "knob" that sticks out on the left front mudflap. It has only happened once when the suspension was compressed while turning. If it happens again, I may take off the mudflaps temporarily until the lift is installed.

 

The new tires are both taller and heavier (11 lbs heaver than oem), so they do have more rotational mass which makes them a bit harder to move from a stop, and a bit harder to stop while in motion. This has a small effect on acceleration, which is more noticeable going uphill. It also has a small effect on braking. Ironically, my fuel economy is about 0.5 mpg better since the install. I'm losing some fuel economy going uphill, but enjoying a slight gain on level ground and while going downhill. The truck really seems to coast like it's on rails, thanks to reduced rolling resistance (thinner tires) and greater rotational mass of the tires.

285/70/17. 2.4"/1.5" lift.

 

Just ordered my Toyo Open County AT3. 255/80/17. After discounts, Price matching and Discount Tire buying my old stock tires out of pocket cost was 780. Mount, Balance and 3 year Certs. Installing lift next Wednesday Tire on Thursday.

Sorry, I just saw this post. I see you already pulled the trigger on a set for yourself. Methinks you'll love them! I haven't had any rubbing since the first and only time.

I'll try to snap a few close-up pics of the front with the wheels turned and upload this weekend. Hopefully it will be good info for others.

 

What pressures are you running?

 

Finally got around to doing a chalk test. Mine is pretty close to oem loads for now. I have sliders installed, but those are only 45 lbs per side.

A good starting range for the rear is 40-42. I wouldn't go over 42 in the rear unless you're loaded down.

For the front I would say start between 41-43. Thatbassguy's calculator is pretty spot on.

I'm now at 41 rear, 42 front.
