Sweet! I want to do a day trip Friday or Saturday up to the Pipeline to see what's open/closed. I could probably make any day work, though.

Nice addition to my toolbox. Viair 300p. I got to try it on a recent outing, and I'm pretty happy with it. It's a huge improvement over my Slime inflator!

It came with a nice soft case, hose, and some adapters. It will be nice to be able to air down further than I have been and not dread spending an hour airing back up.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I have the same one and use it all the time.

I bought a cheap Amazon deflator tool. Finally used it for the 1st time and realized it was a POS. The arm in gauge more or less spun.
Used my Viair 300P to deflate the tires without connecting it.

Nice! I saw that it could be used as a deflator. I have been using an ARB deflator and I'm pretty happy with it.

Note that this guy gets hot! My son was helping air up with this pump out there on the trail. Burned his delicate little computer science student fingers on the heat sink. Poor fella. :sadviolin:

Lol! It does. It's not nearly as bad as my little slime inflator was, though. I also found that the hose reaches the rear passenger tire with the inflator sitting in the front of the engine bay, so no need to hold it while airing up.

I can't wait to dive in to the 4runner. Just got it last week. I like the stock a lot, but what mod made the biggest improvement to your use? I'm a 90/10 driver. So far I've heard coils, shock/strut, tires, wheels, and spacers.

    Thanks in advance.

This topic might be better in a new thread -- you could also use it to introduce yourself. Folks here tend to be very welcoming.

But to give you an answer right away, I think most people agree that tires are the first best step. The stock tires are poor, and good tires always make a big difference regardless of what else you do or don't do. Some people find it enough to put good AT tires on, perhaps in a bit larger size. You can do that without adding a lift.

If you do want a lift, there are tons of suggestions from folks who have done them. For suspension upgrades with or without a lift, there's a lot of love for Bilsteins.

For wheels, there's a lot of love for the OEM TRD Pros as well as FN wheels.

Thanks for the quick look! I

introduced myself here and there, have been lurking around other threads, but I'm having a hard time telling actual use from vendor love. You have enough mixed parts I figured you were unbiased! Thanks again.

It depends what kind of trails you're going to be riding.

I'm about the same as you, especially since the trails I run are all 3+ hours from home.

For me, the stock tires were a first priority.

As mentioned above, this could be asked in the forum as a new thread if you want to get more input.

Yeah, it's kind of a mutt build. :D I went with what I liked and wasn't really dedicated to having everything match.

Awhile back, I became interested in the molle panels that some vendors are selling. I wasn't sure I'd use them, but I liked the idea. So, I decided to attempt to build my own. I put together a rough version for the passenger side, and it sat empty for a month or two.

    20200405_160234(1).jpg

Eventually, I hung a few things on it. As it turns out, it's actually pretty handy!

    20200830_183233_HDR(1).jpg

I believe I will finish it off this winter, and make one for the driver's side. I plan on putting hooks or loops on some of the bolts that hold it together for attaching things.

I used aluminum flat stock from Home Depot, and 1/4-20 hardware for the panel, and metric hardware to attach it to the truck. I still need to shorten the stud that attaches the rear of the panel, also.

If you want to try something a little more low profile sometime, I have aircraft rivets. These are the driven kind, not the pull type (pop rivets). Won’t skin up your knuckles on them while putting thing on/off. Could be a fun project!

Thanks! I'm thinking of replacing the nuts with threaded couplings so I can attach hooks, loops, or whatever I need. I'll probably be messing with it for the next couple of months.

The way you built it looks more tucked into the window well better than the productions available? And it’s tied into the rod holders, very professional!!

Thank you! Yes, the rod holder is bolted in where the cargo hooks were attached. I didn't really have anywhere else to go, but it worked out perfectly!

I'm really thinking about making a rack. I would like to pick your brain about it. I was thinking about using aluminum tubing, and/or square tubing to keep it light. Do you think aluminum is strong enough? I'll be keeping traction boards, sometimes the spare tire (maybe) and the kayak up there mostly.

And any thoughts on round VS square for attaching things?

By the way, @Ajmogen , I need to get rid of the magnet mount and get a real antenna mount. Just like you predicted, the paint on my roof is trashed from the antenna getting knocked around by trees. Otherwise, I'm very happy with it.
