But your miles are slightly longer now, haha. Still pretty terrible gas mileage though.

The 265/70R17 has a diameter of 31.606" (in theory) and the 285/70R17 has a diameter of 32.709". So you have a circumference that is about 3.5% larger than before (32.709 / 31.606 = 1.035) so your 14.7 MPG come out to about 15.2 MPG. Still a really big hit to your fuel mileage.

I concur. I would start w/ shipping vs. company. If you haven't already, I would simply file a complaint and start a return order due to product being damaged from shipping (somewhere in the chain). It touches so many hands, and while companies do make mistakes, I would give them a second chance before a "bash" of the sorts.

That's pretty good. Wouldn't expect that much of an mpg drop with that tire weight.

Was that a direct comparison of before and after tires were put on?

Did you add any weight elsewhere at the same time?

This is my second or third tank since the new tires. Wanted to make sure it wasn’t an error. I’d average 17mpg before and around 313 miles before I filled up.

I do have a big ass awning but it’s been on for a few weeks

    I see.

You lost roughly 2mpg with those particular tires. I've seen quite a few people report something similar.

When I was living in San Diego, I was getting 17mpgs with stock tires. When I put my 285's on, I went down to 16mpg's but they came in lighter than yours at 42lbs. I was typically driving 75-80mph in San Diego.

I got my mpg's back (and then some) when I moved to a different city where the maximum speed limit is 55mph. Now I drive 65mph daily and I get 18mpg.

The moral of the story being aerodynamics (and highway speed) plays a big roll in our mpgs. If you're able to slow down to 65mph on the freeway, you'll do a lot better. But some people aren't able to do that. I wasn't able to drive slower in SD. When I moved to Santa Cruz, I was forced to drive slower.

That should help with the glare. I have noticed quite a bit of glare off the dash in ours on occasion. Kind of like the hood scoop glare, it doesnt happen all the time but when it does it is impossible to ignore.

I have a KXA1200 mono to a single L7 12” 2ohm 900W RMS Kicker Loaded enclosure - Ported and vented. The KXA400.4 is powering Q series 6.75” components (with crossovers) for front doors with dash and KS67s for rear doors and trunk. All speaker locations also have dynamat to dampen the sound since everything was taken a part during the install.

0/2 gauge power wiring was probably the hardest to maneuver in the space, but really happy with how out it turned out. Took about 2.5 days to install and dial in. Sounds pretty amazing.

I did the overlay to match the Toyota "pro grille" lettering up front. Painted the black overlay with Dupli-Color EDE165107 Ceramic Cast Coat Iron Engine Paint.

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
I used tint spray and painted the chrome on the tail lights. I'm not crazy over the results but I like it better than the chrome.DSCN5541.jpg DSCN5540.jpg

I noticed when I did my recent LOF that I didn’t see any grease coming out of the u joints, so I purchased a better lock on grease gun coupler

    0A0D1369-4D0A-4A2B-9BFB-9C3AB984A773.jpg
    and some replacement fittings.
    4EC2C40D-2427-4DCD-9DA4-AF90F1B5DFFA.jpg

Going to check the torque on the u bolts too. I had the 10k and 15k service done at a dealership so who knows how long they may have been dry. Hopefully I will see some grease.

Edit: All went well with the u joints, the new grease gun coupler was the trick. If I was a betting man I’d bet this was the first time they saw new grease.

Wow. Nicely done! I can only imagine how clean that sounds. Nice job on taking the time to install Dynamat - its a world of a difference. I've followed a guy for quite some time in the audio world. His name is Steve Meade. His builds are impressive, but the power he is pushing is something I hope to see and feel in person some day.

Thank you man! This post should be pinned - been searching for paint matching for daaaays haha. Did you buy the OEM overlays or some from eBay?

No problem! It matches pretty well, but if you compare closely there is a hint of warmth to it.
This is eBay, around $50, quality is pretty good I only had to trim a small bit of flashing from one piece.

Finally got my wheels installed. I had to remove my front mudflaps and I will need to do some adjusting to both front inner fender wells. I'll be taking care of it this weekend.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
This is a pretty good solution. I was trying to figure out what to do with the chrome. I didn't like the chrome, but I didn't know what to replace it with, and I didn't want to just flat out remove everything. I might do this. Thanks for letting us know what paint you used, too!

NP! Remember to scrub the overlay with a scotch pad to dull it down for better paint adherence. Paint them elevated so the edges are not touching anything.

I like how you notched the box to make "ears" to elevate the letters. Very clever.

How hard was it to remove the lettering and the Toyota symbol?

I didn't :) These are overlays from ebay that has double side tape inside, you stick them over the original emblems. Make sure the surfaces are clean and warm for optimal adhesion, I applied them on a hot sunny day under the sun.

    Ah got it.

Yeah, I was a little confused when you said you painted the overlays. Haven't heard of people doing that before.
