Ive got two teenage boys and a doggo and want to get out canoeing and kayaking. Thinking about a single canoe setup for all of us or possibly a canoe and a kayak.

Id be driving at least an hour or sometimes up to three to reach our destinations and most often involve an overnight, hence, not interested in putting the katak in the back fo the Runner.

Im trying to imagine if it is possible to put both a canoe and a katak on the roof - Im running Thule's Aerobars up there now. Seems to me that putting a canoe up top requires that the canoe be centered, hence, leaving insufficient room for a kayak. Am I right on this?

Anyone run both a canoe and akayak up top before?

    Thanks.

I haven’t tried that on my 4 runner, but tied two on the crossbars on my 2001 Mercery Mountaineer. Drove them from Florida to North Carolina with no problem

Two kayaks on Thule hull a port works. But they are kinda side mount style so they take up less side space. Can’t say about a canoe plus one kayak but those side mount styles are your best bet.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Put 'em on a trailer like this: https://comfabtrailers.com/collections/canoe-kayak-trailers

Sure, it's money you'd have to spend, but.....you'll have a safe & secure way to haul them around (and store them when not in use!)

both canoe and kayak might be a stretch, I am assuming canoe is wider . But two kayaks is a possibility. I have Thule hullavator, two of them side by side would be great for easy loading and unloading. Here is my hullavator.IMG_0257.jpg

I do 2 adult kayaks, and one kids kayak using 2 side standing supports from Kuat for adults and then the kids go between. I found that the 4 Runner seems to have narrow roof, maybe its just an illusion. However we were we not able to fit 2 adult kayaks if placing them flat on the bars. If I recall we were like 6" short so would have to get new cross bars that would have to extend past the suv. Nothing wrong with that we just didn't like the optics of it.
