    Hello all,

Wondering if anyone else is having this issue. Signal drops for a few seconds on open roadway then reconnects?
    Any help is appreciated.

I haven't had any issues on open roads, but mine drops for a few seconds downtown next to a couple of different buildings (the same places every time) and it dropped a few times on the Blue Ridge Parkway where there was a tall rock wall next to the road, and obviously going through tunnels. Are there any gathering storms or heavy rain in the area when you have the problem? I had satellite TV for years and it would sometimes drop out in those situations and give a "can't locate a satellite" message on the screen that would last anywhere from a few seconds to an hour or two in a really bad storm. I've only had my 4Runner for about a month and haven't driven in any storms to see if XM has the same issue. If it's just happening randomly on open road I'd call XM to see what they say. They might want to send you a signal to reboot the system.

+ 3 for me but seems to always be the same spots in town. Not under a bridge or canopy of some sort as is expected but open road way. Usually by a tall building like in it's shadow. Never a problem out in the country though. It's pretty much the way it is not perfect.

I get it dropping out sporadically in both my Tacoma and 4runner if the road is tree lined with very tall trees.

Think of it on the same level as satellite tv. Your antenna must have line of site to the satellite, in order to receive the signal. One may not always be right above and at times it may be just on the horizon, behind the giant metal building that you’re driving next to.

My 2021 keeps telling me to check my antenna and no signal. I cleaned contacts on cables and used a remote antenna and still get the same message. I tried refreshing with xm and it did not help. Any ideas???

It is possible to have failures on equipment installed on your truck. In the past, I have experienced antenna failures. The antenna is usually out in the elements, and the sun and heat can cause antenna failures. The Sirius / XM receiver is not immune from failure as well. You may want to look around for an aftermarket satellite radio installer to see if they have the equipment to troubleshoot your equipment.

Since your truck is still under factory warranty - you may want to give Toyota a chance to make it right before going to a non Toyota shop for diagnosis.

I read that. What I suggest is you take your vehicle to a shop in your area that does Sirius / XM installs and have them troubleshoot your radio to find out where the problem is.

I had a hard reboot done with xmserious and after I tried the remote antenna it worked. I ordered a new sharkifin antenna with the nav setup in it. That should do the trick

Okay new antenna and still no xm signal. Anyone know the wiring harness connection locations in a 21 TRD PRO. XM workes fine with remote antenna. So I have to have a connection issue inlione someplace. At the radio it is fine and the connection at sharkfin is good. What connections are there in between??? The truck has nav that works fine as does the FM radio

I understand you are probably frustrated, but progress is being made. Where was the remote antenna cable plugged in? Was it up on the roof where the sharkfin was? Or was the remote antenna plugged in at the back of the radio?

NAV and FM signals go into the radio by separate inputs, that's why they work.

I was plugeed directly into the xm antenna port on the radio. It worked fine when I did that. The rear shark is new. So I think I have a bad harness connection in between antenna and radio head

I agree. I don't remember if it is a coax cable or not. Whatever it is, I would think that a fair amount of the interior would need to be opened up to find the spot where it is bad, or better yet, replace the whole cable, especially if it is coax.
Something to think about - if there is any interior modification, such as moly panels or anything else, that is the first place I would look. :)
