I agree with distance factor. Mine is generously covered with Arizona pinstripes.

I think China tried that and it didn't work out too well.

    Back on topic - Silver.

Underground (dark gray). I love the color but it shows dirt approximately 2.8 seconds after its washed and waxed. One scratch and two rock chips in the first 500 miles. Both easy to see. But it is a cool color imo and Im happy with it.

Regret my '22 Midnight Black. Beautiful color but. Extremely high maintenance. Shows absolutely every little mark. Be it bird poop, dust or dirt, scuff marks. Damn even washing it you can see new marks in the clear coat. No matter how careful you are. Have learned to live with it and accept it. Not the end of the world but my last black vehicle.

I felt compelled to wash my Nightfall Mica (sort of a variation on the Nautical Blue Metallic) every week when I first brought her home. Now, three months in and I'm getting used to the fact it will always look dusty...and Kansas City is a dusty metro. It's not quite as bad as black but it's not a worry free color like silver.

Super White has historically had the most issues and it was the only single-stage paint. The others are two-stage with clear or 3-stage with pearl and clear.

I was told by a Toyota engineer that Ice Cap is two stage with Super White pigmentation plus clear. It does have the 0040 code on my window sticker while my 2018 Taco was 040 so if that's true it should be as durable as the rest. If it's just clear on top of the old Super White then it would be the most durable by a mile because Super White had hardener in the color layer. The others are super soft under the clear but the clear layer is much harder than the white.

Scientifically, black would be the best for avoiding oxidation. Silver or light gray would be the worst for oxidation, although I have a 2012 Tundra with Silver and it has done well. If Black is the best, which seems counter-intuitive to me, I'm just going off the data, white would be the worst. The problem with black is it shows every single speck of dust. Which for an anal retentive person like me means every time I drive my car I wash it.

Black will be hardest to keep looking good in terms of swirls, dirt, scratches, dust, etc. Any gray or silver will show the least wear from a few feet away.

If you’re really worried or picky like me, PPF is a must. Rocks are nasty little things, one even damaged a section of PPF (which is really thick protective stuff) on my other car as it pelted off the fender on the highway. Paint remained good as new underneath.

Three stage paint or not, I love my solar octane but know it would be a nightmare to color match of anything happens. I’ll deal with that obstacle when it comes, just part of being a daily driver.

Solar octane is a cool color. Almost made a play for one down in Sioux City. Very cool. Ended up with underground which I like a lot… but solar is pretty bitchin!

I wanted Underground, but black was the only one I could secure with the option that I wanted. I also like black, and think that black is the only color that looks better with the silver rims instead of the upgraded black alloy ones (silver and black just looks so bad ass, Oakland Raiders colors!!). Anyway, it might not be as bad as you think considering that similar comments are made by people who have Underground, a commenter above says that his underground looks clean for about 2.8 seconds after it’s washed. Oh well, my mentality is that it’s a rugged type vehicle, so dirty looks more fitting for it than a dirty Corvette lol

What’s the deal with Toyota white? I have an Ice Cap 2023 and when parked next to non-Toyota white vehicles, it has a slightly creamish color to it. Supposed to be similar to pure white but it certainly is not pure white.

That’s Toyota white for you. When I had my 16 Limited in Blizzard Pearl, I was envious parking next to a Starfire Pearl Lexus.
