    Hello

I just picked up a brand new 2024 4Runner TRD off road Premium. I used to own a 2003 4Runner with a v8 and I am so happy to be back in this legend again!

I have a question. When I slow down to below 5 mph, my screen changes to a front and side view (yes Atari 2600 graphics lol). However I do not understand the gray V that pops in the front. Is it supposed to be there? You can still see through it, so why have it there?

I also noticed my lane departure has not alerted me to anything even when going almost entirely across one lane (to test on open road). Maybe related? Anyway I am attaching the pic.

    Thanks for your help.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
The gray v is totally normal, and totally annoying. You can change it so it doesn't come on automatically under 5mph. Toyota says the v is there as a depth gauge. I think it's intended to tell you that something is...10ft (correct me if I'm wrong) away. If the object touches the bottom of it, then you will know how far away it is.

The Lane Departure warning can be turned on and off manually. In your center gauge cluster scroll to it and turn it on and set if you want audible and/or visual alerts. Someone else will chime in soon and tell you to "RTFM!" for further guidance.

I think it will be helpful to read the manual, there are lots of things you can customize, not just camera views and electronic helpers. For example for lane departure you can change sensitivity, brightness on mirror indicator lights and turn it off completely. And there are very detailed description when those system work and when don't. Lots of info about cameras too, all those lines explained (in navigation / multimedia manual), distances and so on. There are also some other electronic assists which quietly work on background - I think it's a good idea to be aware of as well.
There are lots of differences in all those electronics between 2010 and 2024 4Runners, not to mention 2003 4Runners : )

I'm glad my '21 TRD ORP doesn't have that view.
