After 29yrs 3months and 11 days, my faithful 1995 Toyota truck went caput. Attached is her last ride to the mechanic that has been working on her for over 20yrs, so when he said it's time to say good bye, I knew it was not good. We have also had two (88 & 90) 4Runners in the past. We no longer have a need for an open bed so upgrading to a 2024 4runner TRD Pro but can't decide between Ice Cap and Underground. What color do you all think is better and why?

Update: Since our truck had no paint issues after 29 yrs, we've decided to go with Ice Cap. We put down a deposit today, hope to have it within the next 2 weeks.

Underground is the best looking color IMO. But just subjective, I like dark colors. But I might have to objectively call the BEST color silver. It hides dirt the best, and it will be cooler in the summer than dark colors.

Welcome. Between the 2 colors, I would go with Underground.

Welcome..I just joined the group yesterday. Lol
On our way to the dealership over the weekend my wife counted 6 white 4runners on a 10 minute ride. I mention that we should check out the Underground and she fell in love with it. Long story short...we had a LR pro fall into our lap at the second dealership. Moral of the story is.. don't get white. They look awesome but, their are just so many. If I'm not mistaken 2024 will be the only year Underground will be offered on the 5th gen. Good luck

That truck looks great on the outside, what catastrophic failure did it have? I’d go get it back!

Get what color you like best.

I like light colors so I don’t scorch my skin getting stuff on the rack.

I'd go with Underground for paint durability. Ice Cap has some issues there.

I was gonna ask the same thing. Even before I saw the California plate I was amazed how clean the body appeared to be.

As for the color...go look at them in person, that will help you decide. I was interested in Lunar Rock until I saw Lime Rush in person. After that, I knew there was no other color I wanted.

Agree!! Mine is silver, it's got some scratches and hasn't been properly washed in about 10 months, but it still looks good from a distance.

That said, I got a close up look at underground yesterday, and man that is a great color!!

Between white and UG, definitely UG.

I went with white because I like a color that can stand the test of time. And a classic Toyota truck always looks good in white.

As for your 95 taco, that body looks great. What made it go caput? Engine swap and keep it on the road? Or is it more than just an engine swap?

Nice Tacoma, the first Gens. are great little trucks. If it we're me I'd keep it and keep working on it as time/money were available.

As for color, I agree with the above poster about going and seeing them in person. I thought I'd like the underground but chose nautical blue over it. I'd also chose the white over underground. There really isn't a bad color though, just preferences.

Heard bad things about white paint so I’d go underground. Although underground sure does show the rain spots or a little dust.

Be sure to look at the garnish and monitor closely first year you have it to prevent a rust spot (see sticky for further info)

You had a classic car that would appreciate in value. I would not be hasty to dispose of it. It is old enough that someone might want to restore it.

Underground is a boring color. I don’t think it will age well.

I went Ice Cap and couldn't be happier. I could have gotten Terra (2nd choice) but most dealers around here were upcharging for it.

Ice cap hides dirt better and does better in hot climates. Where I live, we can get up to 115 in summer so I definitely went with ice cap.

I’ve heard stories about the paint not lasting as long but I just don’t buy it. The pigmentation doesn’t really affect adhesion. I’m guessing people either aren’t washing/waxing their ice caps as frequently because the dirt doesn’t show as much and also because ice cap is probably more common in hotter climates where the sun just naturally beats down on it more.

Guarantee if you take care of your car and possibly park it in the garage or otherwise cover it from the harsh sun, the paint will be fine.

Literally never seen one in that condition you’re describing regardless if it’s age. And there are hundreds of thousands of them out there.

Search for nhtsa white paint service bulletins. Then decide is you want to go white or not.
I was a white vehicle fan too, My 4Runner SR5 was white and few other white vehicles. No more white vehicles in my garage. Its just me though, I avoid unnecessary risks.
