I hear ya! My '85 Celica was a dog and only got like 24-25, IIRC. The Supra got less, but, to be fair, I was always driving it like I stole it.

I just remove mine because I rarely actually use it, and I do a lot of highway driving. The initial goal was to remove it for winter to help keep it from rusting. But, it's so easy, I just started leaving it off.

It's getting to be mall crawler show season, so I'm sure I'll be putting it up there and swapping the MT's back on soon, though.

Where it starts to get ugly is when you subtract three gallons for when the gas light comes on. Then look at what some users are getting in their 4th gen Tacomas. TRD Jon is now only getting high teens after mods. 19 mpg x 15 gallons is only 285 miles.

Well, maybe bolt less shit onto the truck.

Or research fuel tank size and range before buying, so the rest of us don't have to hear the bitching.

People seem to hate test drives and research these days, though.

Who'd have thought that adding weight and aerodynamic drag to a vehicle would reduce fuel economy?

What if the vehicle comes from the factory with all that shit already bolted on? AKA Trail Hunter.

Then yeah, that's a Toyota blunder.

I agree though, the small gas tank is ridiculous. It's already ridiculous on the outgoing Tacoma (which has fairly high mpg estimates already, despite them being unrealistic).

An Outback has a 19 gal tank, FFS.

Guys so I was re-watching Joe Raiti's video on the 6th gen. He points out at minute mark 8:08 that the 4R is smaller than the LC and it fits perfectly well in the lineup.

Yes I know on paper the LC and the 4R are the same, but the fender flares stick put significantly more than the LC's fender flares... the LC is more boxy and upright. You can tell is bigger from the videos and pix. The 4R is the same interior as the Taco, and we all know the Taco is definitely smaller.

Looks like the 2024 Tacoma TRD Pro will be $65k. $15k increase over the 2023.

Yep, the pricing is ridiculous. Where does that place the 6th gen 4Runner? I'm scared to ask.

Figure about $6K to $7K more than the Taco. Which would put the Pro and Trailhunter at around $70K.

This pricing is absurd for a midsize truck.

Surprisingly they priced it $10k-15k more than the competition (Ford Ranger Raptor & Colorado ZR2)

Someone on Tacoma world stated watch for the Raptor price jump next year . They did it to the Bronco raptor x 20k so expect ford to do the same with the RR

I wonder where the platinum will end up. Not spending 70K on a 4runner Pro. May switch out my deposit to a limited hybrid or platinum. Pricing is getting insane. My 21 Tundra Pro double cab is a real bargain at 50K. I paid msrp. My 14 year old son may get that in a few years.

Paying a couple thousand more for Toyota’s reliable has always been reasonable. Paying $10-15K more though is just insane. You can buy a lot of other toys for that much money.

When car market collapse? New auto pricing is starting to feel like 2005 housing prices. Different animal of course, but how much higher do we need to go before their sales are affected significantly?

Agreed with much of the above.. This pricing seems ridiculous.

It kinda sucks that you're forced into a hybrid with the higher trims.

The LC250 is looking more and more reasonable for anyone who is torn between that and the 4Runner. Of course, pricing isn't out, yet. But, it's probably safe to assume it will be more than the Taco for similar equipment.

Countering efficiency gains with a smaller tank pains me.

I know it’s a packaging/compromise issue but one thing I miss from my Sorento was the range that came with having the slowest, most efficient engine and the same tank as those with speedier engines. (18.8 gallons)

Relative has an Ascent with a half-gallon larger tank (19.3 gallons) but that combined with LA's speed/traffic/hills makes for frequent stops at the gas station.

I'm definitely jealous of the Highlander Hybrid's theoretical 500-600 mile range. (17.1 gallons)

But I guess my consolation prize is that we've always had a couple gallons (23 gallons) over the 21 gallon Nissan trio. (2005+ Frontier/Xterra/Pathfinder)

I agree but I’m not jealous of the built quality, the design and the CVT.

At this rate I may as well buy a GX550 for that kind of money.
I'm just tying to avoid the extra 30+ minute drive to the Lexas dealer though the Plano/Frisco traffic. Of course that's nothing compared to my 2 - 3 hour IE/OC/LA commute when I lived there, I've gotten spoiled.

With the pricing of the I-Force Max Tacoma just being announced now who knows when these will even be available. The new 6th gen TRD Pro and Trailhunter will probably not be available for another year.
