It's been about 1.5 months and 2,000 miles since i had a 3" rough country suspension lift installed on my 2020 SR5P. SKU: 76642RED

Running 285/70R17 Cooper Rugged Trek A/T wheels on the OEM rims.

There's a slight squat with the front end sitting 3/4 of an inch higher than the rear end. I measured center wheel hub to fender. I figured by now, the suspension has had enough time to settle. It's not egregious, but enough for me to cringe when i look at it.

I've called RC and they pretty well told me to shove it/are ghosting my emails.
I have an appointment with the yota dealership that did the install to see if they see a way to get this leveled out.

Has anyone experienced the same or know of a quick/easy way to get this leveled out? I don't want to buy a new system, but will if i can't find a solution.

    Thanks, all!

    Oooh look, another mod.....

I mean, if push comes to shove, you could shove a spacer back there to even it out. I get it man. I'm very OCD. Once you pointed out the problem, it's all I can see now. It's very cringe worthy.

A search of the SKU you supplied returns this:

    upload_2024-5-20_16-7-32.png

I cannot say why the front of your 4R is higher than the rear, if this was supposed to be a kit that raised everything 3". It should have kept the same rake front to back if engineered correctly.

I have to say that RC is not well regarded in the Jeep community I frequented for decades. They were considered entry level at best. Whether that is still the case, I cannot say, as I left that community 5 years ago. The last RC suspension component I personally purchased lasted less than a year before failing. To be fair, RC did send a replacement.

I’ve heard the same when I had my JKUR, even very willing to send out replacements. With that in mind I stayed away and that’s even with my massive discount with RC. It was tempting to buy the Vertex just to try out for giggles, but instead I just used that money for a 5100/5160 temporary kit. No regrets there.

To the OP I hope they reach out to you and hopefully resolve your issue.

Oh that would drive me crazy. If you can't figure out how to lower the front, I would probably add an inch spacer in the rear. Depending on how high your rear is though, your shocks may start to top out, and you may need a panhard bar correction for that.

Right?! I'm the same. It drives the OCD in me crazy. I guess i could live with it for a little bit. The tough part is having the 285/70s. I kept the OEM suspension but no way i could throw it back on with those tires.

Going to wait to see what the yota dealership says before i make any decisions. They have a contract with RC which is a big part of why i went this route. I waited for the factory tires to give out and wanted to do the 55k service, lift/level and bigger tires all in one swoop. Them having the contract made it easy to get done all in one day.

Worst case if they say i'm SOL, i'll live with it for another month or two and go to a different shop that can outfit me with a new, better suspension lift. Been seeing a lot about the Bilstein 5100 2.5" that fits 285/70s alright. Probably would go that route.

Here's a thought/idea: Now you have a great reason to add that steel bumper you've always wanted. The 100-ish pounds that a steel bumper (with winch, of course!) will help the front end sag juuuuuuuuuust enough to even out and level the truck.

I don't know if I could drive around with my truck sagging like that. People are going to be staring at you. Judging you. They'll be wondering "WHY does his truck look like a dog squatting to take a piss?"

You'll be ostracized by your co-workers, neighbors and family members. You don't want that man. You're better than that.

I have the same RC lift and slight squat in the rear. From what I’ve read as the suspension settles it will dip slightly in the rear with the more weight you add. I agree this sucks and am considering adding a spacer to mine as well just to level it out.

Am I the only one who thinks the front looks really high? @scott4runn , what is the actual measurement from center of hub to the fender opening? Did you take a before measurement to compare?

    Agreed about Rough Country.

It looks like it's meant to level the vehicle.

It's hard to tell in the photos, but to keep it consistent, i measured from the bottom of the center hub ring to the fender on both the front and back (line marked in the photos). I couldn't hold the tape to the mark and take a photo at the same time.

The front measures 25.75" and the back is 25". That's how i got the 3/4 of an inch higher in front.

I appreciate hearing this from another RC install. Needed this validation to know i wasn't going crazy. RC told me it was level, even after providing photo evidence that it has a squat. Now they're ghosting my outreaches.

I bought a 3/4 inch spacer for the back just in case the yota dealership says i'm SOL when i bring it in.

Random - I'm headed to Kaanapali on vacation next week. Wish i was headed to your island so i could check out the rig.

OK. I was just curious if you had a reference for how much actual lift you had gotten. Occasionally, someone will mention that they got more than advertised. Based on the picture, it looks possible that you got more in front than expected.

It looks like average stock height in front is around 19.5" from the center of the hub to the fender. Maybe you can try to get a measurement to the center of the hub for comparison.

Just for reference , this is mine with approximately 2.3" lift in front, and 285/70/17's. It looks like more than a .7" difference to me, but maybe it's just my eyes playing tricks on me. :notsure:

I don't have a reference stock, but wish i did. Seeing yours with 2.3, mine definitely looks more than .7 higher.

I just tried to measure but it's not accurate. Where i park my car is uneven gravel/dirt. I'll go back to the same, level lot over lunch and take from the dead center to fender and keep you posted.

OP. Have you had the truck aligned since the list was installed? Also a 2" lift and those UCAs will clear 285s. If you do redo consider 6112s instead of the 5100s..

The shop did the alignment after the install. If this doesn't work out how i'm hoping, i'll be ripping this kit off my rig and installing a different one. Bilstein is pretty well at the top of my list..

So this is why everyone is warning about Rough Country lifts because it gives customers a rough time regretting their choice?

I don't know how you like the overall ride and/or performance of the RC shocks, besides too much lift in the front, but one option is to just put Bilstein 5100's in the front with the stock springs, since you can select your ride height. Unless you are dead set on replacing the whole enchilada.

Just went from center hub to fender and it's 24-1/4 up front and 23 & 1/2-3/4 on back.

It sounds like you might have gotten closer to 4" up front. Do you have any pictures of your CV angles? I'd be concerned about those, and a lack of down travel at that height.

I think it's another situation for me where my OCD would kill me. I'd really want Bilstein front and rear.

Truth be told, the RC kit's ride quality is actually decent. Minus the appearance dislikes, I regularly do a decent amount of gravel driving and mild terrain and it's smoothed out the ride a good amount. Handles bumps, uneven roads, etc. really well. Even speed bumps in the city seem easier on the vehicle.

Here's snap of the front. I asked the shop about this with the install and they said CVs look ok and no need for a diff drop either. What are your thoughts?
