    Thought I make a thread, I did a search I couldn't find what I was looking for.

So, phone: Google pixel 8pro with Spotify
    Vehicle: 2024 4r TRD pro.

Issue: using built in radio xm/sxm volume works okay, tone is really harsh on high volume but it definitely goes loud enough.

Using phone either through usb cable OR Bluetooth, sound is on a different scale. No subwoofer at all, and volume doesn't get loud on max to drive with windows down on the highway, can barely hear a thing. Now, I have made sure the phone output volume is on max, turned on base boost on Spotify, and made sure there was no form of hearing protection turned on.

Does anyone else have the issue, or not have this issue? I'm curious if this is an android issue or if it also affects apple, or if it's Spotify or a vehicle issue. This is incredibly annoying to have a "premium audio system" that works so poorly, as mentioned sxm sound is so harsh it almost gives me a headache.

    Thank you, Duane.

Stock 4Runner head units suck to begin with. But maybe your phone volume for BT or USB is set to low? There should be more audio settings on Android.

Check your other sounds setting from settings and search "volume"; adjust/play with adaptive sound, spatial audio (device might thing its headphones plugged in), media volume sound level, sound amplifier. All of those can change the listening experience.

Definitely doesn't think it's headphones as it doesn't highlight any headphone options, also have tried selecting and unselecting any and all audio options both on the phone and within the apps.

Ah awesome, thank you, my first scheduled appointment isn't until the 22nd so I have to wait til then. May I ask what phone/ app you are using? I don't think the apps are the problem though as my pixel 8 pro does it on Sirius and Spotify via cable or Bluetooth. I think the phone is the issue but not sure in what way.

I dont have this issue but I also have an iphone and dont use spotify.

Have you tried something other than spotify? (i.e. podcast)

It looks like both of you have android and use spotify. I would try something other than spotifiy first and if it persists try with an iphone if you know someone with one to see what is the root of the issue

I have siriusxm on my phone as well, thankfully the quality is much better than the built in radio but same volume issue. Was driving down the highway going around 110kph with windows down and I couldn't hear the stereo through the stereo using my phone, turned it over to the built in siriusxm and decided it was better to just drive in silence. I have a feeling it's an android issue as well, but not enough people to base that assumption off of.

I am curious what the dealer says, hopefully it's helpful. I've been waiting a few weeks for them to find out if my windows have sensors in them that link to the app to say if they are left open or not, I think I'd be long gone by the time I heard back about an audio issue.

So they turned on the car said everything "sounds fine!" . They did very little the way of testing (I wasn't there long enough for them to do a lot). I even asked the to do the JBL sound check which I know takes between an hour and one and half hours to do.

Yeah unless the deck is on fire I wouldn't imagine they would look at it. I'll probably just pay an audio shop to look at it, easier than trying to fight with a dealership even if it is under warranty. I wonder if it's the the "premium audio system " if you have the same issue with the iPhone. Such a PIA.

Check your Spotify settings. Spotify has equalizer settings within the app and maybe yours is set to some trash default setting?

Again it doesn't explain why the issue would also appear in siriusxm, and why another user would have issues on a different divice. Just for sh!ts and giggles I've attached a screenshot of my settings on Spotify, all playback settings are set to max quality, on siriusxm as well. In the screenshot I believe bass boost isn't highlighted because I'm not connected to the car currently.
