    Any suggestion on either brand?

Thinking about the Yeti Roadie 24, or maybe the Yeti Tundra 35
    or
Thinking about the Rtic 20Qt Hard cooler, or maybe the 32 QT Ultra-Light cooler

Guess I'm biased but I only have Yeti.

Never done me wrong so never bothered to change.

    I have
    18 Hopper
    350 Tundra
    24 Hard

And I don't know how many cups and shit.

Yeti is available all over near me and they were the only ones with a 350 sized.

If you qualify for a discount LE, military, fire, healthcare the cost of their products can get near the price of RTIC

Sorry … my reply got cutoff. I was trying to tell you that you can get a Yeti for almost the same price as a Rtic if you qualify for their discount. So if your looking at price only it may not be a concern.

I have the Rtic 20Qt and keeps stuff cold for 3-5 days depending. Its a great cooler but I mostly camp by my self so its a little small for more than one person use.

Great size for the 4Runner though, fits perfect on my passenger seat when I bring everything in for bed (I sleep in the back).

I was looking at coolers for a long time.

Decided on getting a soft cooler to save some weight.

I went with a techi ice cooler. They're from Australia but have a dealer here in the US.

Their soft sided coolers are amazing with tons of insulation and come in at a very reasonable price.

Check out Kong Coolers. They're made in the USA, have a lifetime warranty, and have quite a few features that beat the Yeti and RTIC cooler (latches and handles for starters). I've got a Kong 25 and am super happy with it.

In practice they may not be a lot different, but I hate buying Chinese ripoffs, which is what RTIC is. I like my yeti's. As someone else said, I got them 20% off. I think one I got from REI 20% off at one point as well.

Also check out Lifetime coolers. A lot less expensive than Yeti - a little less expensive than Rtic. You can usually get the 65 quart size (I have one of these) at Sam's, Cabela's, Bass Pro for less than $175. Can usually get the 48 quart size for less than $140. It is made very well, very rugged. Will keep ice for days if you are good about closing/latching the lid. I've had mine for ~5 years and it still looks new. Gets used at family gatherings, camping, float trips, etc... 5-6 times a year. You'd have to really abuse it to tear it up - it is made pretty good - well worth the money. Not light though - the 65 quart cooler is pretty heavy even when empty. I've got a smaller Yeti that I use if it will need to be moved around. The 65q Lifetime gets used when its going to stay in one place when pulled out of the 4Runner - or its going to stay in the back of the 4Runner.

You're welcome! The hard latches are so much easier to use than rubber ones, the handles make it easier to carry, and the optional cutting board/divider and bottle opener are nice. The cooler can be opened when it's up against a wall too, which is great when it's in a tight space (i.e., behind a car seat or up against a boat side).

I'm not a fan of hard plastic latches. Those always break.

    They sell replacements?

The latches are hinged/pivoting, so I can't imagine how they'd get broken with normal use, but they do have a five year warranty and replacement parts are available. I've used mine a bunch in 4+ years of ownership, and the latches work like they did on day 1.

When the latch is left down I've seem other snap all the time if something hits it or gets caught.

Looks pretty strong but I've have tons break on other coolers thats why I prefer the rubber. Also the rubber lets you over fill the cooler a little and still latch it closed.

I just ordered this one from Igloo (directly), they had a good sale. I didn't need a cooler but it looks so close to Lunar I thought, why not. It does look very solid.

Those are slick! Insulated well enough to keep things cool for a couple of days?

I liked the first one I bought so much (14qt) I ended up getting a second one (36qt).

Yes, they'll definitely keep things cold for a couple days unless its really hot out. I love the dry ice packs they sell as well.

My only criticism is I like the zippers on the soft sided Yeti's better, but I'm not going to pay Yeti prices just for a zipper. After a couple years of use, the zippers on these Techni Ice coolers have held up just fine. No issues.

The value that you get from these compared to the cost is second to none, IMO.

Quite the identical rip off in fact, even both companies were started by brothers. But ultimately its how a cooler can keep things cold and Yetti one of the best.

I have a large Yeti and it works quite well for what it is. And I was quite happy to stop using it after installing an Engel MT45 fridge.

What about the Toyota ice coolers? Have anyone tried them. I use my Yeti but still have my genuine 4unner ice chest. I heard they are made by Yeti. It works just as good. I never use mine. Perhaps I should see if anyone wants to buy it.
