Guys for those of you that got Xpel did your installer have to customize the kit?

I called Xpel and they said they don’t have a kit for 4R ORP which suprised me.

They said if people call and request they would do it. So I was wondering how others got it on their 4R is it custom cut?

If you are talking about PPF, it is custom cut.

Are you planning to buy it and DIY or do you plan to have a shop do the install? I don’t see any difference between a ORP and a PRO besides the “TOYOTA” and “T” area. Any shop can use a sheet of bulk PPF and customize it to work.

I was going to have someone install it. I have been researching it and called Xpel the other day.

The consultant said they did not make a kit for an ORP which I thought was odd. It sounds like only high end cars like Ferrari etal.

So he said like you did I could get bulk kit and they would have to razor blade cut it to fit. Maybe it’s just me but that sounds like a risk razor blade trimming it around hood etal. Maybe it’s no big deal.

So I knew some of you guys had it installed so I thought I would inquire. I am guessing the installers need to cut it to fit?

I wanted to get it installed in the spring

Are you planning to have the entire hood fenders and bumpers covered? Partial? Full wrap around and tucked? Regardless of trim level (besides limited some newer trim levels) any kit sr5 to pro will work for fenders and bumpers. Hood has a scoop so you’ll need a pro kit.

Any installer can do it. I’m no pro, first time ever working with PPF and I was able to wrap my entire front end myself in my garage. Yeah, it was challenging on the bumper and headlights but everything else was easy. If I can do bulk wrapping being a noob, the pros will definitely have no issues bill wrapping that TOYOTA piece.

And regarding using razor, the pros should know how to cut it without even touching the surface. If not they shouldn’t be doing it.

I am thinking of having the grill, front bumper, and full hood and mirrors done.

I have the factory ORP grill and did not change out to a PRO grill.

I am being quoted around $1k to do all that. I never did this on a vehicle before.

I can just envision more rock chips on the front like my old Explorer. I thought the PPF would be a much nicer than a bug/stone guard. Obviously more money but that’s ok.

I would like to keep the vehicle for 20 years ideally so trying to keep it nice out of the gate. It’s just going to be a spring/summer vehicle for towing my small boat and a few trips

Oh wow thanks. I spoke with them Monday and they said nothing for ORP. I see all sorts of options for OR and PRO.

I am not sure what I looked under on Monday but I did not see those items listed. In fact two installers I called today said the same thing.

I would guess the OR is almost the same as the ORP only difference being mirrors have turn signal indicators.

    Thanks for this link

WoW 1k for a xpel full front wrap including labor is very cheap. Just the materials alone runs over 1k. Most shops charges 2k-ish for a full frontal wrap. With me buying just bulk materials, it already ran me close to 1k. I'd jump on that deal ASAP and not wait till spring before price change. PPF is a great way to protect your vehicle for many years. To make it last even longer after you've gotten it PPF'd maybe add ceramic coat over the PPF. That's what I did as well. I too also plan to keep this vehicle for a long time. In a few weeks, I'm going to buy additional materials and do a full vehicle wrap (roof, doors and quarter panel) then ceramic the entire vehicle.

Yeah I had one quote for $950 and another for $1,100 gosh something seems off.

They said put in ceramic over the Xpel plus. That’s new to me also. I always enjoyed waxing my car in the garage and I guess you don’t need to if do that.

Yeah with ceramic you probably won't need to wax it. Xpel PPF is warrantied for up to 10 years (I believe). With a good ceramic coating should last another 5-10 years. Ceramic prices vary and could get pretty pricey. You get hydrophobic properties, UV protection and best of all the PPF is only 1k? It's a no brainer. BTW, are you in CA by any chance lol?
