Dealer is replacing entire system under warranty. Purchased new Limited in Jan. 2018. Only 22,000 miles on my “paved road driven” daily commuter. This concerns me, as this system seems prone to failure.

I think it’s a fluke, that system has been known to run well into 100k just fine.

I hope we get there on the next one. I haven’t seen the total $ yet, but I’m sure it’s lots! I left it overnight, should be ready in the morning.

There was a clunking in the right front. Sounded like a worn shock mount. It sounded like it was clunking in the rear also. The dealership said the right front strut had a leak. They replaced it but said there was air in the system. Once air is introduced, there is no way to get it out. The only way is to replace the whole system.

The system does not have to be replaced all at once. The right front is linked to left rear, that setup would all need to be replaced together, the left front is linked to the right rear and totally separate.

I understand the system is cross linked. The service manager said they were going to replace all 4 struts, and accumulators. I am going to let them.

Just a data point - but I had close to 200K on my '04 sport before I popped a leak in my XREAS. Hopefully your replacement will last as long on longer.

Sucks that it "broke", but nice you're getting a complete replacement.

Wow, 200K sounds more like it. Still an expensive system if you have problems. Did you replace you XREAS system, or do a cheaper system?

Does anyone replace with original equipment after 100k or 200k? Anyone think XREAS does anything better than a more traditional system?
Is that when most find their 4R sitting a bit higher on a new wheel/ tire package as well?

I replaced mine around 90k miles. I kept the factory stuff until I killed it. Too much time on unpaved washboard rutted up “roads” at speed did it in. The suspension got hot, really hot, the dampeners faded bad, started dumping fluid, it was smoking and smelled awful. Extended travel custom valved Kings with JBA upper control arms still cost less than replacing with all new OEM XREAS stuff.

Thanks, good info. That’s my assessment, a guy has a lot of options when faced with the cost of XREAS. Fortunately this ones on Toyota!

Ok, just picked it up. Drove nice and quiet, like it used to. I only see 2 new struts (RF & LR) and 1 new accumulator (driver side). Happy to have it fixed, but they said 4 new struts. I’m not complaining (maybe a little) but happy it’s working now.

It didn’t sound right that they would do all 4. Warranty would not pay for them to do that.

Agree, it didn’t need to be done. Don’t know why they said they would replace all four.

Service manager tossed me the key, said he would mail it to me. Haven’t seen it at this point.
