    4R Buddies,

I will be spending the last two weeks of September traveling from my home base in N. Florida to Colorado. I plan on doing the Imogene Pass and making my ways down from there making my way to Utah and down into the the upper part of New Mexico before making my way back home.

I am looking for great trails in those areas that I should be sure to do. Please note that I have 2.75" lift with 32" tires (my next set of tires will be 33" KO2s, but that will be after this trip).

I am not looking to tackle the most difficult trails, but rather want to see the most scenic areas that are of moderate difficulty that are the trails not to miss, as this may be my last opportunity to get to that area for another couple of years.

Thanks in advance for your recommenations.

In addition to Imogene, you'll want to do Engineers/Cinammon

Imogene and Red Cone are my favorite trails in CO. I don’t know the extent of your turn trip but FYSA Moab is only 2.5hrs from Telluride, which is closer than Montezuma (Red Cone). We typically keep Moab as back up just in case the weather in Telluride or Silverton isn’t favorable. In addition to the Alpine Loop, there is Ophir which is quick and easy. There is also California Pass and the “infamous” Black Bear Pass. It’s not difficult IMO but there are a few obstacles that can make you clinch your butt cheeks.

In Moab, Fins n Things is a fun trail that isn’t too difficult. There is also Chicken Corners which reminds me of a shorter version of White Rim Trail. Then if you want something abit more difficult but not crazy, there is Top of the World (my avatar photo)

Off US550 I would hit Corkscrew Gulch and head towards Lake Como. The iron in those red mountains is unique and quite memorable. My top recs would be Imogene, Corkscrew, then Engineer.

Since you're generally coming from the East you can hit Creede and run the bachelor loop, then to Lake City, then over Engineer to Animas to Silverton. Then go North up the Million Dollar Highway.

In Utah, Long Canyon is a beautiful drive. Take it from the top of the canyon. There is a huge rock that you drive under. It's pretty cool.
When you get to the end, turn right. That will take you to the Schafer Switchbacks, which will take your breath away. Beware of Thelma and Louis Point. There is no warning or barricade.
You could actually drive off the cliff if you aren't paying attention.
Both can be done in 3-4 hours total if you don't dawdle.
