Anyone know of wireless lights that attach to roof rack that could be turned on through app in phone? I really don’t want to hardwire into the 4Runner.

You could duct tape a few mag lights up there and then open the sunroof real quick to turn them on.

Many of those Amazon remotes are actually IR based...you'd need to stick your arm out the window!

Eibach Stage 2 lift. Pro front grill. Sound deaden doors, cargo area, and rear tailgate. Diode Dynamics fog lights. Anytime front camera connected to Kenwood head unit. Kicker sub and amp. GX rear bump stop and Energy Suspension front bump stop. FJ cruiser shift knob, rear molle panels, black paint climate control knobs. Sherpa crestone roof rack.
Just get the Garmin Power switch, then add all the lights you want.

Won’t you still have to run wires to the lights?

Only to the hood where the module is located.

Too poor to buy anything now
Any lights bright enough to be useful at night would require a large capacity battery pack. Not saying it can't be done but the effort and expense might not be worth it compared to running wires.

So the lights would have to be run to the engine bay? I get that you won’t have to go into the cab.

It works via bluetooth with the Garmin app on your phone. No need to run additional wires. Just go to the Garmin site and read all about it.

There are now quite a number of vendors offering bluetooth enabled switch panels. I went with the 8-ch Auxbeam (AR-820) but there are many other less expensive 6ch and 8 ch options out there. The beauty of these types of switch panels is that there is only one (< 1/4" dia.) cable to run into the cab through the grommet on the drivers side firewall to the switch panel instead of pairs (or single wire per channel and one common ground) per each switched circuit.

I run a single 14 AWG stranded copper pair from the engine bay, where the switch panel resides, up the drivers side A-Pillar (the cable I carefully selected to squeeze into the gap between the windshield glass and frame (held in place with dots of clear silicone) and up along the roof rack rails to the rear lights. I plan on running a similar cable up the passenger side A-Pillar for the future planned awning lights. The real benefit of a switch plate design is in its relative simplicity, easily configurable switch icon labels and in the case of the Auxbeam app, modifiable label icons for each switch channel.

As an alternative you can easily run a single pair, fused, from the battery up along one of the A-Pillars to distribute to whatever light(s) you wish to add up there that work with 12VDC. Just add a local power switch either in the cab or up on top.

But to control the lights via Bluetooth, you have to run wires from the Garmin device to the lights, correct. Or does the Garmin device some how send power to the light on top of my roof?
