Weird problem here. I have smearing/haze on just the drivers side of the windshield when using my wipers. At first I thought… “bad wiper blade”. So I tried two other new sets of blades and have the same problem (OEM, Trico, Bosch).

For good measure, I also polished out the glass with a glass polish to be sure it’s squeaky clean. The haze/fog is clearly not there where the passenger side wiper overlaps.

So then I got to wondering… does anyone know if it’s possible to increase the downward pressure of the wiper arm? The only thing I could think of was to unhook one end of the tensioner spring, give it a 360° twist and hook it on again. But that seems… wrong.

Can wiper arm pressure be adjusted another way?

Regardless of make/model/year of the vehicle with that symptom, and especially after your described troubleshooting, I'd change out the spring with a new one. If you have reason to believe the arm may be bent as well, even slightly bent, I'd replace that too.
