Looking to get thoughts on a possible used winch purchase. Going to install a winch in the ARB Bumper mounted on the front of my 2013 Trail. I currently have a Warn VR8000 on my Jeep TJ that I am considering moving onto the 4Runner. I have the opportunity to buy a used Warn VR10000 which is the more accepted size for the 5th gen 4Runner for $400 and then leave the VR8000 on my Jeep. Trying to determine which option makes more sense.

Current 4Runner Stats + future mods
    - ARB front bumper
    - Full ARB Steel Roof Rack
    - Rear Tire Carrier
    - Rear Drawer system
    - Tepui RTT
    - Fridge
    - ARB front skids

I mostly run class 6 roads in NH, beach runs on the cape and am looking to do some extended trips in the North Woods of Maine. Any thoughts would be appreciated

Are you able to test the used winch?

I'd go for the 10K if everything seems on the up and up.

I think if you use Paypal you might have some protection if the winch shows up as a paperweight.

    I think a 4Runner weighs more than a Wrangler.

Yeah but the Wrangler will be broken down anyway and that little 4.0 can use all the help it can get! Hehe

You can get a new warn vr evo 10s new for 740. I would go that route. Tough to buy something like that used not knowing what kind of life it’s had

it is in the garage at moment…but I learned to drive on a TJ. Lots of memories there and it’s a manual so it won’t ever get sold

Rolled the dice on the 10000 so we’ll see how it goes, but I guess 8000 will go back on the TJ or maybe the wife’s JKU…hmmm

Is it the synthetic version? I have the EVO-10S. I'm very happy with it.

The little 4.0 in the 4Runner definitely needs all the help it can get as well, lol.

I would estimate around 100 lbs without a winch
