Hi guys. Do you know what are the widest rock sliders in the market?
I've been reading many threads about rock sliders, but not about how far from the body the rock sliders go.
I am looking forward to installing a wide rock slider. I've never had rock sliders, if you find any cons to wide rock sliders, let me know too, I think this would be the thread to discuss it.

Most of the companies have a kick out, on the rear of the slider. This works as a pivot point on rocks and stumps with some protection to your rockers.
Why exactly are you wanting wider?

Are you asking because you want to know how much oh a step there is?

Some people here have posted RSG? sliders. They stick out wide enough to use as a step. They look like a quality product. I saw 5th gen locally with them and to be honest, I didn’t like the look, but they would make a great step.

I think usability depends on driver and passenger height. I had RSG 0 degree with top plates before selling them and switching to a set of their angled slider that tuck in.

I’m 6 feet tall and don’t need a step to slide in to a 4Runner. The 0 degree RSGs were horrible for me. They sat too high to be a useable step and stuck out far enough to make it difficult getting in and out. In either form they are a quality product though.

0 degree RSG with grip top plate on mine and I am quite satisfied with them. I don't use them to enter my 4R, but my vertically challenged wife does, and is very happy they are there. They are great for accessing the roof. Angled sliders, in my case, would be useless, even though they look better.

@Sleeper4Runner - somewhere I have a photo of the measurement from body to outer edge. If you're needing that I can find the photo.

Edit: Photo added of measurement from door edge to outside edge of slider:

Mileage varies…if I had short passengers I might have lived with my own ingress/egress issues with the flats.

FWIW, while the flat were more convenient for roof access, the angled version works just fine for that.

Another consideration is functionality for their design purpose. An angled slider will have a stronger tendency to push you away from and off of an obstacle.

As you say, potato / potahto. I'm not recommending one over the other.

I have the RSG sliders in 0 degree, and am quite happy. They have helped me scrape past obstacles and the kickout works as intended. I'd be worried that narrower sliders would create more scrapes from banks and trees.

Likewise. They are both good and we all have compromises to make whether we need steps and want sliders, need sliders and want steps or need steps and sliders.

I have RSGs and to be honest I’m not wild about the look either. It’s the oval holes I think - I wish they were round. I was impressed though that RSG offers so many variations: with or without top plate, with or without kickout, smooth or grip top plate, angled or flat. DOM tubing or not. I count 32 different versions. And they are KDSS compatible.

I recently installed the Westcott Designs 0º no-kick-out sliders and they make for a great “step” solution. Wife and kid both agree, it’s made ingress/egress much easier for them as well. They’re “wide” enough to feel stable while standing on to load/unload my Thule cargo box, and I have a fairly large shoe size.

They look great, have excellent build quality and are relatively light weight. It should also be noted that their customer service, in my experience, was also top notch.

In contrast, I ran the OEM Toyota Rock Rails for a while and they absolutely could not be used as a step.

Well, @Sleeper4Runner - take your pick. Whatever fits your fancy or budget. Plenty of choices, it seems.
