Why don't 4Runner owners wave?

I know that when I had a Jeep Wrangler, every time I passed another Wrangler, no matter the trim level or level of modification, I would get a wave.

And I drove the black sheep of the family; the YJ...

    Qq3LQByITneGiB6s5BCHYQ.jpg

I noticed that after I bought my 4Runner, I rarely ever get a wave.

Now, I understand the old folks and the city folks in the Limiteds, but I have waved at multiple TRDs and lifted and modified 4Runners and not gotten so much as a look, never-mind a smile and a wave.

To be sure, every now and then I get a wave back, but 95% of the time, I get nothing.

Why no waves in the 4Runner community? Are we stuck up or something?

What's next all the Honda Accord folks waving at each other, maybe all the Camry owners waving. No thanks...

I ride atvs and motorcycles....im kinda glad there isnt a 4runner wave. There are alot of soccer moms, that I want to wave at though

When im in the hills riding, I generally wave at people to gauge their friendliness, and see if they are the trouble type, and let them know that although I just rode up on them, I seem friendly and keep my distance

Its like ridin a motorcycle...ok at first...then it turns into a monotonous pain in the ass.

GT500 owners most definitely wave, as those cars are rare to see on the street. 4Runner owners? Not so much.

Another reason I traded in my Rubicon for a 4Runner... no thanks. Some wave back , others don't. It was unique in the 70s, it no longer has the meaning it once did. I'm glad to leave that in the past. BTW, not stuck up, but had enough of the inconsistency. My OCD took quite a hit every time I was out. Now - FREEDOM!

I usually wave if I think its a nice rig! kinda hard to see alot of us 4Runner drivers. We tint our rigs dark! [IMG]

I give the one finger salute to everyone. 4Runners, Jeeps, Grandmas......85% reciprocate.

There's a big difference between one finger in the air than one finger penetrating an okay sign with your other hand.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I wave / get waved at all the time here in rural Missouri. Even have had Jeep owners wave at me.

That being said I had a whole Mercedes Benz club pass me, not a single one of those SOB's waved.

I literally pass close to 50 4Runners daily.

I'd be exhausted if I had to wave at them all.

I expect the only time you need to wave at another 4R owner is if you're stranded somewhere on the side of the road...and hope they do more than just wave back...

    Feel free to ask
I’ll wave or nod at modded 4Rs when waved or nodded at, but I don’t usually initiate. I had a few waves just last week and I get looks all the time, but not as many as my wife gets when she’s driving.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell through the window tints.

On the trail etc I do it most of the time because the other guy waits for you to pass before he moves.

But on the road hell no.

I have just been to my first trail ever in Schnelby Hill in Sedona this past Saturday. Everyone on the trail waived, except the TRD Pro guys with california plates, and I have seen a few of them.

Might get complicated explaining to the wife in the front passenger seat.

"Oh honey I was just waiving to a fellow 4Runner driver, she had the Venture package, that's all"

No its just excessive and unnecessary on road.

I also live in Hawaii. If you have been here you cannot drive anywhere without seeing 100 Toyotas. A public parking lot is like a Toyota dealership no matter where you go.

^^^Exactly. There's common courtesy when out and around like minds doing activities, and anywhere else it's totally unnecessary. Plus, these are so common (at least where I am) that the average person likely isn't as intense about them, nor is likely even aware of/impressed by the trim levels/mods. Jeep drivers are a different breed altogether, IMHO. (Used to roll that way when i was a kid with fam)
