I liked your comment about "tethered drifting".

    Not me…
That’s a Great Channel, just caught a episode last night and it had been awhile since I watched it … Yeah, it can happen … Owner said it’s brand new … Just glad to see him stop where he did; definitely could have rolled it!

Regarding the Wrecker Service Co that pulled him out; think he calls that Jeep Cherokee the “Banana”

I've been to that hill a few times. It's on a trail north of Kanab several miles off to the West. That video does not do that hill justice...it's steep and always has very soft sand. I've seen many SXS's not make it up. The 1st half of the hill isn't bad, but it's followed by a sharp right turn where you have to be paying attention or you can take the wrong line. There's like...IIRC....3 lines after that point. If you take the wrong one, you ain''t making it unless you have mud or paddle tires. (it's not me in the video)

To me, that looked pretty scary. I will scratch steep hills with deep sand off my to do list!

I have done the Barracks Trail a couple of times but always South to North. That is a long, steep hill with very soft sand. Starting from the South you go down the hill and that is plenty exciting. Its a fun trail that goes through very beautiful country and it crosses the river quite a few times, I highly recommended it.

Stock tires, but a roof rack and ladder. Hmm. So what does a recovery like that cost anyways?

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I don't think it's that bad. I think one of his customers gave him a Yelp review mentioning the cost.
