    Hello,

Noob DIY mechanic here. What are some good online sites to buy OEM parts from? The autoparts Toyota website sucks. There should be a website I could go to to buy everything from fluid plugs to front valance to new frame. Or is that not how things work?

Also, I haven't yet thrown down for a TIS service manual. But I watched a YT video online previewing them. And they look pretty cool. But one thing the video noted is that the TIS service manual doesn't show part numbers. What the?? How is a person supposed to know what part number to order?

Again, I'm a total noob but I'm eager to learn. Just don't know how to do the very basics like shopping for parts online.

    Welcome.

I usually get my small parts orders locally from the Toyota dealer. They have a website and allow for counter pickup. If it’s a larger order, I’ll use BAM.

I too get Toyota OEM parts from the dealership I purchased the truck at, with a 20% discount on parts the first year of ownership as a courtesy; oil, filter, crush washers, etc. Regarding aftermarket, it’s item specific and I tend to wait for a sale, then pick a few up, as much as my social security check can handle! haha. Welcome aboard!

Parts from the dealership are often hard to beat, depending, if the parts man/parts manager are 'sharp'. Many times they can find stuff that has been a 'volume' item and trouble shoot from their experience to find the right part. If they want too much, like way too much for the part, consider aftermarket.

    Welcome!
You can check for price at several dealers that sell online. Not all of them do.
Prices vary as do shipping charges so you have to check it all the way through. Unfortunately, you have to take it all the way to the checkout process to see the actual total. Kind of a pain...
Also, see if you can find a local dealer that sells online as the prices are always better online. Even if you can get a lower price out of town, you may still get a lower overall total ordering and picking up free local.
Even then, be careful as I just found one of our local dealers has a $5 fee for pickup. WTH?
    Some I have used:
    Lithia
    Toyota of Dallas
    Ourisman (formerly McGeorge)
    Camelback

    Good luck!

Also forgot to mention Conicelli as an online resource.
I have also cross referenced parts to Lexus sites but that hasn't really worked for the 4runner. Better for my wife's RX and usually the other direction, that is, buying at Toyota for the Lexus.

Welcome. I have used Lewis out of Topeka Ks, BAM, and a few others. They usually had free shipping if you spent enough, which initially wasn't a problem.

I used to buy on line from Olathe Toyota. Last time I went there on line to buy a water pump, shipping was almost as much as pump.
I ended up buying OE pump from Amazon, it had free shipping and was priced good.

I recently ordered some plastic clips for my windshield trim from Amayama.com. The entire order was less expensive than the shipping from Toyota Parts Deal. If the parts are small/lightweight and you have the time, delivery was 2-3 weeks direct from Japan, Amayama is a good option.

Excellent resource! Thank you and everybody else who welcomed me and gave me some links to check out. So far this and BAM are my favorites. Very user friendly websites.
