Does anyone know when MY 2023 model year production is set to begin? I'm first on the list for a 2023 Solar Octane PRO but wondering when production will actually begin. I've been on the list since January for a 2022 Magnetic Grey PRO but, so far, my dealership has not received an allocation. They are a small dealership that only gets a few PROs a year. I bought my 2019 Voodoo blue PRO from them. I was looking to get the last year of the 5th gen, but of course, as the 6th gen has been delayed, I switched my order to a 2023 Solar Octane. Better still as I wasn't all that excited about the Magnetic Grey and didn't like the lime rush. If 2023 production doesn't start till late in the year and with my dealership getting such a small allocation, I may be waiting until next summer.

Look at the thread called "How long to the port? " There are members waiting forever for a 2022 and I can't even think of how long it will take to get a 2023. If fact in that thread someone posted a link to a story about Toyota shutting down the production line again until late June 2022 because of the "Chip" shortage again. Good luck and FYI I am one of the people waiting for a 2022 and hopefully it will be delivered soon. It was built back in early April.

Toyota did shut down the 4Runner assembly line for a week earlier this month, ending on the 23rd if I remember correctly. It takes some searching but they post their production schedule changes on their corporate site. I'm not aware of them shutting down beyond that week but admittedly I haven't been tracking as closely now that my 4Runner is built and state-side.

Regarding the OP's question of when MY23 will start building, my experience with prior vehicles suggests August-ish as the new model year seems to start hitting dealerships in September I think. Seems like Toyota made a hard push with Lime Rush in December/January to get the color out onto the streets; maybe you'll get lucky and they'll do the same with Solar Octane. Good luck!

What are the chances of getting 2023 model when your local dealership isn't high up enough to get a 2022 model....
My dealership gets a fresh delivery constantly - waiting for buyers...

    Just curious

I would think Toyota will want to get out the 40TH Special Edition 4Runners pretty fast. There will be 4040 of those units produced.

The 2023 Toyota 4Runner 40th Anniversary Special Edition is based on the SR5 Premium grade and will be available in three colors: White, Midnight Black Metallic and Barcelona Red Metallic. There will be a heritage graphics package created especially for this anniversary model only.

Historically the following year models come out in the fall around September October so I would say an educated guess would be late September mid October for you depending on your region and whatever else hiccups production might run into

They seem to get a decent amount of 4Runners, just not many PROs. Your dealer has PROs lined up waiting for buyers? It's kind of a catch 22......go through a small, lower volume dealership where they may only get a few PROs a year but, with a smaller clientele, I'm able to be first on the list for the first Solar Octane PRO that they get, or deal with a big mega dealership that has a much bigger allocation but probably has a huge waiting list. There's a big Toyota dealership where I go for service. They actually were just bought out and merged with another huge Toyota dealership. They have a much much bigger allocation. When I inquired about getting on a list for a PRO, I basically got a smirk and a laugh and a "Yeah, right, get in line." They'll probably get 10 PROs to the smaller dealership's 3 or 4. But they have a waiting list a mile long.

I just put a deposit for a 2023 Solar Octane. Not sure if it's different in Canada, but the dealership didn't even have 4runner in his 2023 drop down list on his comp. He manually entered everything and told me i'm first in line. It's a reasonably high volume dealership and the guy said they typically get two Pros at the beginning of the model year (oct-dec) on allocation, and two at the end as a reward for good sales performance. Good thing here is they can't charge over MSRP, and I expect i will get close to MSRP for my low mileage 2020 Army Green Pro. I figure it's a free trade for a new truck, and my only reservation is missing that green paint.
